A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder after the alleged stabbing of a 16-year-old boy at a beach north of Coffs Harbour, on NSW's North Coast.Police were called to Pacific Street at Corindi Beach shortly after 5.40pm on Sunday, where they found a 16-year-old boy had been stabbed in the thigh.Police are investigating whether the alleged attack was linked to a love triangle.
Officers have been seen searching scrub in the quiet seaside town, using rakes, shovels and sniffer dogs as they hunt for a knife used in the alleged murder."I saw a young man on the road, lot of people around him, police came, lot of people trying to help him," he said."My heart goes out to the family of the young fellow."
This afternoon a 17-year-old was charged with murder, assault causing death and possessing a prohibited drug.Acting Superintendent Matt French said the death was "tragic". "I met with the victim's mother this morning and it's a senseless and tragic loss of life," French said."RIP sweetheart, you were a special boy. 16 is just too young, we'll love you forever," a loved one said.
