Analysis: No matter how often government ministers repeat their path to net zero emissions is paved with “technology not taxes”, it is simply not true | swrighteconomy

As professor Warwick McKibbin noted on Tuesday, throwing around so much money can lead to plenty of waste. It is a concession that some jobs will disappear along the path to net zero. That is of no surprise – as with any change in technology there will be winners and losers. The government’s proposal includes a 15 per cent reduction due to “further technology breakthroughs”. That’s a magic box that may or may not be true.

What is the government's plan to reach net zero?The government has committed to reaching net zero by 2050, and says it is on track to beat its 2030 emissions targets.
