A Tamil family seeking asylum in Australia is due to learn whether they will be spared deportation to Sri Lanka when their case returns to Melbourne's Federal Court on Thursday.

An injunction allowing the family to remain in Australia for 24 hours was issued Wednesday, giving the judge presiding over the case more time to weigh his options. The court was earlier told the couple's youngest daughter was legally entitled to make a visa application after "the bar was lifted" in a period between July and August 2017. Justice Bromberg is expected to deliver a judgement about 2pm on Thursday.

'We need to expose the whole family court system' | Sky News AustraliaOne Nation Leader Pauline Hanson says Australians need to “put the hate behind us” following the government’s decision to launch an inquiry into the family law system.\n\nThe inquiry will examine issues including the cost of the court process and claims of false evidence being used against former partners.\n\nMs Hanson told Sky News the inquiry is “not about self interest groups, but looking to help mums, dads, grandparents, extended families and most of all children out there who are denied to see their parent”. \n\n“If you feel what is just and lawful in this country then you should be supporting the family court inquiry,” she said.\n\n“To anyone who says this is going to create more deaths in this country then shame on you.\n\n“Every state is different with domestic violence orders, we need to expose the whole court system for what it is, whether it’s the lawyers, the judges or child protection.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia That’s ironic coming from a parliamentarian who in the past publicly and proudly made degrading statements about anyone darker than her own colour. Thank You Another trick by Morrison.
