EXCLUSIVE: Afghan women will not be permitted to play sports, including cricket, which will"expose their bodies" or expose them to the media.

"In cricket, they might face a situation where their face and body will not be covered. Islam does not allow women to be seen like this. "Even for this, if we face challenges and problems, we have fought for our religion so that Islam is to be followed. We will not cross Islamic values even if it carries opposite reactions. We will not leave our Islamic rules," Mr Wasiq said.

in regular contact with the International Cricket Council and the Australian government regarding the situation in Afghanistan and the upcoming tour of the Afghanistan men’s cricket team.

ICC It's a relentless obsession of westerners to egg-on these Afghan women to endanger themselves whilst in a most precarious postion whilst the provocaturs are in safety.

ICC wow 👌, what about the international student, temporary graduate visa holder & skilled visa holders stranded overseas, who lost their life savings in Australia? Any ministers will take notice?

ICC LOL didn't US government namely Donald Trump sat shoulder to shoulder with these terrorist and legitimise their existence? Now what's the point of crying wolf?

ICC But, but... Religious freedom!

ICC OK, so don't allow the Afghan men's team to play either. They are supposed to be playing a match in Australia. Deny them entry. They can complain to their new masters.

ICC The only thing ICC can possibly do is throw Afghanistan out of the ICC. And then what ? Eh, Dick ?

ICC What about men not being allowed to apply for the position of street sweeper at Darebin Council? Will the minister be urged to take action? Perhaps he should order the bombing of both Kabul and Darebin….

ICC Shouldn't he get Australia's 'Aged Care' in order first ? People in care, carers , vaccinations ...

ICC What an absolute diabolical shit hole

ICC I don't think the International Cricket Council has the military capabilities to intervene.

Taliban.....'Dan who?'

As if they give a shit

why only single out Afghanistan? why not comment on poweful countries like the UAE and Saudi where women sports is forbidden.

The white savior complex is alive and well. We just can't stand that 100 years of invasions still could not make Afghanistan a clone of the west. Pashtunwali is a 5000 yo tradition. The biased media coverage has so much to do with positioning the white woman as feminist in chief.

Pfft! Hypocrite ... For years Tehan blocked people on Facebook if they questioned one of his lie/propaganda then shut down comments so any comment had to go through Message and he only showed it if it was one of support ...

In 1979 Afghans had a secular govt, Men had to cut their beards, women could not wear a chador, mosques were shut, forced marriages were banned & women had the right to vote. BUT they had a socialist & secular govt which we had to overturn because the USA did not approve of it.

Seriously, is anybody really surprised by this?

What did he expect?

I'm sure they are shuddering at Dan's damning use of 'disappointing.' Tough shirt front.

Well it was expected to happen once the US left, wasn't it? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Good to see Dan Tehan is rolling out the tough language.

Big surprise. They haven’t changed.

Two Trillion Dollars spent on the war in Afghanistan, hundreds of thousands of deaths, millions of refugees AND They can't even have a female cricket team yet

Disappointing! Breach of Human rights DanTehanWannon

'disappointing' ?

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio Very sad decision and does not augur well for their rights

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio So... you hypocrites.... in the US, they are preventing women choices over their own body

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio Sport is not important to woman? Why not?

annajhenderson SBSRadio Barbarity is as barbarity was. Many wider hopes abt a possibly 'more modern' Taliban now confronting a brutal reality. An IHL nightmare that a generation of diggers & their allies tried to stop returning. And surely better for the international community to have tried than not.?

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio The US abandoned Afghanistan after 20 years of brutal and barbaric occupation. The Taliban came back with little resistance because of US betrayal of Afghan people.

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio And it has started. The degradation of WOMEN. Who's going to stand up for Afghan women in Afghanistan?

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio Think only females should interview the Taliban

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio So...im thinking Taliban not in Olympics except monkey bars, still Gold.

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio Back to the dark ages. Those poor women.😢

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio Where r our western female activists protesting in the streets of Australia.... too busy poking our local males as soft targets.... really ......

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio I guess it is back to the old days with the Taliban, in which 'sport' means going to the soccer ground and watching the executions....

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio Not sure how many millions of people, good servicemen and women died to achieve this outcome! Well done to all the very brainless or smart politicians and their lobby groups!

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio Cricket.. Gateway to lesbianism. 😏😏😏😏

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio And so the suppression of women begins.

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio Surprise surprise? I think it’s the last thing woman should be worried about

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio Wherever they go, they want to live the same way as they are back home. Only the West has the illusion that they free them.

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio

Adrian_Arciuli annajhenderson SBSRadio No mosque in Australia will condemn this because that’s what Quran says

Taliban announce new interim Afghan government as protests against their rule growThe Taliban has announced their government, with a UN-blacklisted veteran of the hardline movement in the top role, weeks after they swept to power and toppled the US-backed president. Not exactly unexpected. The Western government on my land continues to look after their own since seizing control from us, the pure blood and the soil Australians of over 60,000 years. No doubt the Taliban will look after their own too!

Taliban open fire as women protest on Kabul's streetsProtests for women's rights around the country are posing a challenge for Afghanistan's new Taliban rulers. Leave the raggies to destroy themselves then go in and mop it up. They've been the same sort of people for eternity. Give no help or aid and wait them out. Good they shouldn't be breaking public health orders! Taliban should load up like Vic Police on protesting! LOL Where is Grace Tame, Lisa Wilkinson and their vocal friends in the women's rights movement. They never say a word about the way muslim women are treated.
