Motorists are warned that they are in for a shock at the petrol bowser when heading out on the road for the public holiday.
"Sydney again reached its record high price leading up to Australia Day and other capital cities are heading in the same direction," NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury said.Mr Khoury said some suburbs are seeing large price differences at service stations in the same suburb. "There are huge gaps between the cheapest and most expensive service stations and they are often on the same street."
NRMA said supply chain disruptions across oil-producing nations caused by the Omicron variant wave are to blame for the skyrocketing prices.
