President Joe Biden says he is “disappointed” by a Supreme Court decision to quash a vaccine mandate for 84 million American workers and is now calling on business leader to implement their own jab requirements.

The policy, if successful, would have seen businesses with 100 or more employees require workers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or be subject to strict testing and mask-wearing protocols.

President Joe Biden says he is 'disappointed' by the Supreme Court decision and is calling on business leaders to implement their own vaccine policies."Thus, most lifeguards and lineman face the same regulations as do medics and meatpackers,” the justices said. The six-three court decision has dealt a major blow to the US President’s plan to bring the pandemic under control after he announced the mandate in November last year.

“It is instead a significant encroachment into the lives - and health - of a vast number of employees.” “Where the virus poses a special danger because of the particular features of an employee’s job or workplace, targeted regulations are plainly permissible”. The President labelled the regulations, which would have been rolled out by businesses if the policy had been successful, a “very modest burden” and called on business leaders to immediately voluntarily implement vaccine requirements for their employees.
