St Kilda have decided to part ways with senior coach Brett Ratten after an internal review, just three months after he signed a two-year extension with the club.confirmed with sources close to Ratten that the 51-year-old was told on Thursday he will finish up after four seasons in the position having led the Saints to one finals series in that time.

The shock call comes as the club found itself stuck in a rut having missed the finals again in 2022 after losing eight of their last 11 games. St Kilda coach Brett Ratten has been sacked following the club’s review of its poor second half of the season. The club decided to do a review at the end of the season with former North Melbourne coach David Noble involved in the process that was overseen and steered by president Andrew Bassat.

The decision comes just weeks after long-serving CEO Matt Finnis finished at the club and was replaced by former football boss Simon Lethlean. Assistant coach Brendon Lade has joined the Western Bulldogs. Adem Yze is understood to be in the frame as a potential replacement for Ratten with favourite son Robert Harvey - who is an assistant at Hawthorn - also a possible candidate. The club had a quiet trade period having missed out on recruiting Collingwood free agent Jordan De Goey.

agerealfooty JakeNiallTHEAGE petryan StKilda problems not the coach. Their recruiting department has failed them year on year by either recruiting players on big $$ that don't deserve it or they don't trade to improve their list. Ratts can only work with the players his recruiters bring to the club.
