The 39-year-old star, who has sold more than two million records worldwide, has filed the action in the Victorian Supreme Court against Joyleen Robinson.
At 17, Ms Amorosi was living with her mum, a casual cleaner, in the family home at Narre Warren and working seven days a week while at school, court documents show. Ms Robinson arranged for VanJoy to receive all of Ms Amorosi’s income and pay her expenses and was in charge of all its decisions and transactions, court papers allege.
Ms Amorosi claims she asked her mother to give her control of VanJoy and the other companies she had set up, but Ms Robinson refused, suggesting Ms Amorosi’s husband would “waste the funds”.
