A second round of wild weather is heading for Melbourne while Sydney and Canberra could be rocked by a band of supercell storms tonight.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued at 6.39pm for large parts of New South Wales and the ACT.

The Bureau of Meteorology said large hailstones may fall over the next several hours in the Snowy Mountains and parts of the South Coast, South West Slopes, Riverina and ACT districts, affecting Eden, Bega, Cooma, Bombala, Tumbarumba and Holbrook.Source:Supplied Damaging winds forecast in the Illawarra, Central and Southern Tablelands and parts of the Metropolitan, South Coast, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes and Upper Western districts over several hours may affect Wollongong, Nowra, Orange, Goulburn, Parkes and Lightning Ridge.
