MSS Security was guarding the Stamford Plaza - the hotel at the heart of one of the largest current COVID-19 clusters - and until Saturday also provided security guards at the nine housing estates in North Melbourne and Flemington.

The security company linked to the biggest coronavirus outbreak in a quarantine hotel also provided guards for the North Melbourne and Flemington public housing estates now under a hard lockdown.

The company was also on watch at the Park Royal hotel at Melbourne Airport, where a health worker but not security staff acquired the virus. But security company owners and guards working in the industry, who asked not to be named for fear of jeopardising future work, said subcontractors working for MSS Security may have worked at quarantine hotels and at towers now locked down in North Melbourne and Flemington.

However, the government said in a statement last week that it had expected all subcontractors to have complied with rules around physical distancing and the use of personal protection equipment. The drastic move on Saturday to ring-fence nine public housing towers attracted further criticism of the government’s handling of the crisis.

MSS deserves to go bankrupt

Now When you say guarding you mean shagging?

What a disgrace Andrews has been - he must resign coronavirusaustralia

Amateur and appalling - predictable from the private security sector and their government handlers!

Me watching who's to blame now

Ohhhhh Awesome news

I hope the truth is revealed. It will be the biggest scandal in Victoria's history.

Why was it a problem for them to provide security at the housing estates? None of them was in lockdown or isolation prior to Sunday. They were providing security...not enforcing regulations. Come on!! Report news and stop with the sensationalism!!!

Meanwhile mss security links...

If this had been explained up front then people may have seen.the necessity to move quickly with police etc. Only rule = tell the truth upfront, tell it as it is. Stop the leftist non threat waffle. For god sake this is a pandemic. People are frightened, truth is empowering.

Owned by SIS India

Unbelievable.

It’s starting to become very clear. This security firm is a joke. They need to be made accountable for this. Unacceptable

You have got to be kidding !!!! This is just inexcusable re MSS Security

I can't believe 3rd world drop-ins from the land of poo didn't take the job seriously.

MSS security have a lot to answer for. As soon as they new there staff were test8ng positive they needed to start testing. Remember, that these security firms send there staff out to guard other premises, banks, shopping centers etc....Gross negligence on there part.

MSS Security employs 6000 people. You would think they are a professional security company.

You had one job MSS

No surprise at all...that's the why and how covered...how many residents were also returnees?

Sounds like a cover-up for Andrews going soft on BLM rally. How many MSS Security guards attended ?

clearly Daniel Andrews is stupid.

What a shit show this is. Needs a Royal Commission

Bring in the ADF DanielAndrewsMP they have the experience & the training required & they have successfully performed these tasks in other states, why do you continue to put Victorians at risk? Shame on you! MartinPakulaMP JennyMikakos VictorianCHO VicGovDHHS

Watch for a cheeky rebrand by MSS in the next few months.

In what universe can anyone see this as an acceptable decision?

DictatorDan CedarAndrews

Labor uses private security and everyone wants Andrews' head. Liberals use Serco and Wilson who's guards have assualted and abused children on Nauru... crickets

MSS already had a reputation for being disorganised and thuggish. A diabolical idea to put them in charge of HQ. Businesses and livelihoods will go down the drain because of this. Some public servant jobs should do likewise.

Refuse to use ADF? What’s in the contract? Who signed the contract? Spending 3m to buy time isn’t going to solve the problems. This is enough.

Time to bring in the ADF. Enough stubbornness and red herring judicial enquiries from Andrews. This is incompetence of the highest order.

This shit just keeps getting better day by day

So now we have some reasons as to why

MSS Security hasn't collected enough money from VicGovDHHS to give back to DanAndrews and his ministers yet.

I know MSS fly guards into contracts such as these, they better be tracking any potential guards that fly interstate for these roles.

This is Victoria’s “ Ruby Princess”

The corporate criminals 9towers Melbournelockdown springst

Cause Daniel Andrews hasn't screwed this up enough.

This is the problem with privatisation. The market fails. Businesses like this cut corners. You can’t afford to cut corners in a pandemic.

Let's put Scomo incharge of the coronavirus on Victoria. All numbers will go down in one day bcz media will be passing sensible message to the community instead of the negative election campaign that it's running right now. ScottyFromMarketting newscorp
