Rugby chairman in heated radio exchange over Castle future | geerob

Rugby Australia chairman Cameron Clyne has shot down speculation Raelene Castle will be toppled at a board meeting on Monday.

Israel Folau and wife Maria Folau leave the Federal Court after a 12-hour mediation with Rugby Australia on Monday."Well, let me tell you that [regarding] the settlement discussions, the Rugby Australia board and the NSW board were fully informed all the way through and both were unanimously supportive of the settlement discussion."

"Let me just talk about why we settled. The first thing I want to knock off is that this will have not one impact on community rugby, we're emphatic about that," he said. The move appears to have incensed Fox Sports executives and has led to reports the pay television broadcaster is considering walking away from rugby."What about the TV rights deal? There's a real feeling at the moment at Foxtel that they're not going to deal with Raelene Castle, they've lost faith in her," he said.

Fordham: Let me ask you a question Cameron, can other board members put another item on the agenda or only you?Clyne: Well, let me tell you that the settlement discussions, the Rugby Australia board and the NSW board were fully informed all the way through and both were unanimously supportive of the settlement discussion.

Fordham: What about the TV rights deal? There's a real feeling at the moment at Foxtel that they're not going to deal with Raelene Castle, they've lost faith in her.Fordham: Cameron it may not be the feedback that you're getting but you're not getting the full picture at the moment because as you know at a time like this sometimes people tell you what you want to hear and when they're not talking to you they give people the real picture.

geerob Why would anyone waste time talking to an few like Fordham?

geerob If Raelene was a male CEO she’d have been sacked by now. Female privilege.

geerob After the whole debacle with Israel and the disastrous performance of the team, coach etc... She should be on her way out. Why did they even employ her Bulldogs where a mess when she was there 🤔

geerob All a bit of fluff really - 2GB and probably a large section of their audience just love to see people burn, even if it means making stuff up

geerob Good to see Clyne putting the boot in.

geerob Castle must go

geerob If the CEO was Ray instead of Raelene, they would be gone now.

Rugby Australia 'lost on every front' over Folau settlement | Sky News AustraliaWriter Corrine Barraclough says Rugby Australia have 'lost on every front' following the agreed settlement with former Wallaby Israel Folau. \n\nMr Folau was chasing $14 million in compensation, but the dollar figure of the out-of-court settlement is not known. \n\nRugby Australia 'have lost freedom of speech, they've lost financially,' Ms Barraclough told Sky News host Peta Credlin. \n\n'They've lost credibility and they've lost a really good player'. \n\nImage: Getty I’d have a smile 2 if I got 8 million 🤭 Is that called appeasing or drop kick? This doesn't compute with what got him, rightly, sacked. “Mr Folau wants all Australians to know that he does not condone discrimination of any kind against any person on the grounds of their sexuality .........'

Escalating the Folau case further into court was 'not helping the game' | Sky News AustraliaCEO of Rugby Australia Raelene Castle says the board made the right decision to settle with Israel Folau.\n\nFolau said he was vindicated after reaching a reported $8 million settlement with Rugby Australia following his sacking over controversial social media posts. \n\nThe governing body and Folau both issued statements of apology on Wednesday, but there was no indication he would be allowed to return to the sport. \n\nThe rugby CEO said she had to “make a decision that was right for rugby in this country and we made the right decision by calling out Israel on his posts and his inappropriate messaging”. \n\n“That remains the same… we stick to our vales that inclusiveness is absolutely core to the key of rugby,” Ms Castle told reporters on Thursday. \n\n“Taking this conversation further into a court situation was not helping the game.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia Now get rid of Rayleeeene and Qantas and RA might have a small chance of surviving this mess. Their 'case' would have fallen over in court and they'd have been hit with punitive damages that would bankrupt them. Keep on spinning RA however you can't spin your way out of this Folau had his way with you and now you are paying the price. Do yourself a favour and get a donut cushion, it will ease the pain when sitting down👍
