Growing from a ball to a weird fluffy monster thing, Rizmo is a musical toy that needs attention (and chanting) to evolve.

Sometimes you see the description of a toy and think "that sounds weird, but it's probably just communicated poorly". I'm here to tell you today that Rizmo is exactly as weird as it sounds, and it's glorious.

When you first receive Rizmo it's in its baby state; a mere ball with light-up eyes that see all. You press a button on the top of its head to select a play mode. Play modes include getting it to repeat your words back to you (recording length is arbitrary), "speaking", rocking it to sleep, or having it make "music" by rolling or shaking (which sounds like what would happen if a bird swallowed a car alarm and then got stuck in a glass figurine store).

Rizmo's first evolution is like the evolution of getting out of bed in the morning; it sticks its tail out, just to test the air. There is still one more evolution to come. The teenage music is a little more intermittently tuneful, like the final form is trying to break through. Recording becomes a little more manageable, with fewer sentences getting cut off. Still, you need more "music points" to unlock the next evolution. After five hours of near constant play, Rizmo's eyes flashed again, and I placed it on the floor for it to reveal its final form.
