The restrictions aimed at stopping the spread of coronavirus are costing Australia $4 billion a week | swrighteconomy

The restrictions aimed at stopping the spread of coronavirus are costing Australia $4 billion a week, with Treasurer Josh Frydenberg revealing the economy is likely to shrink by 10 per cent in the June quarter.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg will reveal the current social distancing restrictions deliver a $4 billion hit to the economy every week.Several states and territories have already started to loosen restrictions put in place in late March and Friday's national cabinet meeting is expected to map out a more extensive series of eased measures. This will include a presentation on "COVID Safe Workplaces" to get Australians back into the office and the economy moving again.

He will say the government will continue to be guided by expert health advice and "seek to ease restrictions in a way that minimises the health risk and maximises economic activity". The Treasurer will argue previous recessions have shown how long and difficult it is for the unemployment rate to fall.

swrighteconomy So stop it 🤷🏻‍♂️

swrighteconomy I’m calling bullshit

swrighteconomy How many fingers is that Josh?

swrighteconomy Good

swrighteconomy Wealth is not absolute, it's relative, particularly at a time like this. Given we are doing way better than most other countries COVID19 wise, I'm not worried.

swrighteconomy So if we had a different sort of economy we’d be better off instead of relying on imported goods, students, tourists etc. Australian manufacturing and science should be encouraged with support from government. After all it is OUR money

swrighteconomy Gee, whinging about the cost to stop a killer virus, atta boy Josh, keep proving you are as heartless as Morrison. It's not just Australia's problem, it is a world-wide problem.

swrighteconomy Die capitalism like the dog you are 🙏

swrighteconomy Send the bill to CCP.

swrighteconomy This is the the same errant calculation used when discussing ClimateChange. It’s not about the cost being incurred; it’s about the much more serious cost of doing nothing.

swrighteconomy Looks like we'll all have to pay more TAX

swrighteconomy Conveniently ignoring the fact the economy was a basket case even before the pandemic hit. It’s going to take more than a few coffees or a beer at your local to fix it.

swrighteconomy That's a purely theoretical number as there is not a suitable alternative 'normal' anymore. That economy doesn't exist anymore

swrighteconomy Not costing our pollies anything, most are at home doing very little, but they’re still on full pay.

swrighteconomy Let me guess, we should download the app?

swrighteconomy And how much per week did it cost to stop the boats. We never got that figure and we’re still paying for it

swrighteconomy Well you’ve got plenty of money for weapons your buying from America and weapons your developing and building.

swrighteconomy Well, open up the country then, idiot

swrighteconomy Closing the borders to foreign visitors/students back in late January instead of dithering about protecting the economy seems like a much more attractive choice isn't it?

swrighteconomy If your a DH ...

swrighteconomy My mum’s life is worth it.

swrighteconomy How many lives have we saved?

swrighteconomy Where is that $4b?

swrighteconomy 'Mr Frydenberg will use the address to argue the government is committed to a private sector-led recovery that will boost job creation.' We are in for a very long, very nasty and devastating depression.

swrighteconomy As for climate change, these estimates should always be compared to the costs associated with no action.

swrighteconomy That's disgusting. As disgusting as there's no bushfire relief gone vanished and now after 5mths on only because of by election EdenMonaro AndrewConstance could only organise a few portable units from LiberalAus

swrighteconomy And that's the plan. ThisIsNoAccident ControlledEconomicDemolition GovernmentIsTheVirus CentralBanksAreTheVirus

swrighteconomy $41 million for each death, per week. Average age of deaths in Australia 80yo.

swrighteconomy 'This means… that Dr. Fauci has known for 15 years that chloroquine and it’s even milder derivative HCQ will not only treat a current case of CV (“therapeutic”) but prevent future cases (“prophylactic”). So HCQ functions as both a cure and a vaccine.'

Coronavirus Australia live blogUPDATE: A Sydney school has closed for intensive cleaning and contact tracing after a seven-year-old student tested positive to the coronavirus. Latest updates here: Given current position, low city density by global standards, median age 37, and that we are an island, you'd have to be irrationally pessimistic to think we cannot keep death rate (currently 3ppl per Million) below the 1990s road toll (100 ppl per Million). auspol Fkn idiots.
