Residents in the inner-south suburb of Mitcham were woken overnight by the sound of gushing water.Residents in Adelaide woke to a giant sink hole.

The water came from a high-pressure line which burst under the intersection of Carrick Hill Drive and Fullarton Road around 3am.Residents said they struggled to believe what they were seeing when they were woken either by the sound of the water or the flashing emergency lights."When the firies were trying to get across there it was actually washing their feet from underneath them it was flowing that fast," he said.SA Water blamed recent rain for the main bursting.
