State Health Minister Dr Steven Miles extended his apologies to Mr Turner's "partner and his family for any distressed caused by our actions". "The loss of life, particularly life this young, under any circumstances is difficult and this has only compounded their tragedy. For that, I'm deeply sorry," he said.

The 30-year-old was believed to be the youngest victim from the virus but tested negative during a second post-mortem. Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said "the coroner officially notified me last night... there was no evidence of coronavirus found." "At this stage, the coroner is unsure what the cause of death was," she said. "I did ask for a second test to be done that night, which was done post mortem and it was sent to Rockhampton that night.
