COAL21 CEO Mark McCallum says discussions are taking place with industries and government for a new carbon capture hub based in Queensland that would 'unlock an ability for industries' to utilise common-user infrastructure and reduce emissions.

COAL21 CEO Mark McCallum says discussions are taking place with industries and government for a new carbon capture hub based in Queensland that would "unlock an ability for industries" to utilise common-user infrastructure and reduce emissions.

Mr McCallum said the carbon capture mechanism would "capture 25,000 cars worth of emissions every year for the next 25 years" off a power station. "It would separate and purify the CO2 off the waste stream and put it back into the earth crust - about 2km down," he said. The carbon could be recycled for use in soft drinks and beer.
