A punter defied the odds by predicting the correct finishing order for the world’s richest race on turf.

Australia News, Australia Headlines

One lucky punter is $10 million richer after pulling off a remarkable feat during this year’s The Everest race.

After 67 seconds of racing, the Auckland-based man won $10 million after defying the odds by correctly guessing the order.“I saw the promotion on the TAB site and thought I’d give it a crack. I didn’t put too much thought into my picks and just dropped the runners where I thought it could go.“I honestly could not believe I’d won it. I actually thought it was a hoax when they first rang me – I called the TAB back, and it took quite a lot of convincing before it sank in.

Bjorn Baker-trained Overpass, a five-year-old gelding ridden by Joshua Parr, was an outside chance at a place, but stumbled down to 10th after leading for most of the race.
