Sky News host Alan Jones says the proposed changes to the national anthem to acknowledge Indigenous existence in Australia are “perfectly reasonable”.

Sky News host Alan Jones says proposed changes to the national anthem are “perfectly reasonable”. Olympic Gold Medalist Cathy Freeman has come out in support of the Recognition in Anthem Project, which argues the current anthem "doesn't acknowledge Indigenous existence in Australia”.

The Recognition in Anthem Project - founded by former Victorian Supreme Court judge Peter Vickery QC - launched its proposal for an updated version of Advance Australia Fair. In Advance Australia Fair 2.0, the "inappropriate and now outmoded word, young" would be replaced to read 'Australians all let us rejoice, for we are one and free'. The project presents further changes to the anthem in verses two and three.

Why so the demands continue their list is never ending These decisions and demands are dividing Australia more and more we are one or so we say when will you all wake up to the fact they will never stop the more we give the more they want

Fine but just get on with it and stop debating it to death.

Wouldn't be Australia if the 'conservatives' weren't rolling onto their backs at the first opportunity.

And that the British were here before the Chinese. And the Chinese were here before the Lebanese. And the Lebanese were here before the Sudanese. That's also very important in national anthem.

The problem with giving in to the outrage mob is there is never an end to it.

Way past time to embrace the dynamic Aboriginal flag, as new & official flag for all Australian's. After change, a 'republic'can be approached without any apron strings attached.

Who really cares what Alan Jones thinks. 🤣🤣

Alan Jones nasty flog, just sayin

Write new lyrics altogether. Some words are outdated in this modern society.

When'we'as a nation sing the anthem Isn't it about the 'pride'we hold for her, about how we 'toil' to keep her beauty, about 'telling' other 'lands' how great she is🤔 It' about celebration unity pride. We now have 2 flags recognised in the land.... does that unite us?combine em🧐

Really .... who cares what the old Rock Spider thinks .....

As long as we put in all other nationalities

oz_jacko Sorry, they look good on paper. But give them an inch and they will take a mile.

Nothing wrong at all with the current lyrics of the national anthem. The Federation of Australia is 'young' as its 119 years-old (1901) not 60,000 years-old. The proposed changes is essentially putting race into a anthem that has no reference to race, ethnicity nor religion.

No specific groups existence is acknowledged in any national anthem of any Country. The Australian Anthem should be left alone. No amount of change would stop the issues & complaints with the anthem just as changing the date of Australia Day wouldn't stop the Indigenous Protests.

I see this has been around since Sep 2019. I like it and we should put it to the vote. These changes are more than appropriate.

Jimmy Barnes needs to lead the way:

We're also going to remove the bit about 'For those who've come across the seas we've boundless plains to share' to 'fuck off, we're full'.

NO, NO, NO

Good grief! Put the whole dreadful Advance Australia Fair out to pasture. Grab that $10million of money wasted on a Noth Sydney pool and commission some thing new with lyrics that properly represents Australia.

Phew! I was desperate to know what this fossil thought and now I know

better change it from “wealth for toil” to “wealth to spoil” cause they can never get enough handouts

No racial division. One country, one people, one flag

I demand CENTRELINK and petrol huffing get a mention.

I think Mr Jones has lost it

They're a knowledged already. One nation, one country, one flag, one anthem.

If we make the change will the locals sing the anthem?

You are not my news. The people disagree. Stop these ridiculous stories every few months to help keep and build a divison with fear tactics. CEO step down

Australia is heading for civil war in the next 50 years if it keeps pandering to aboriginal designs on creating a separate racial state.

Can Australians Tax Payers have a say on cutting down on $35 Billion a year on all their benefits?

what about acknowledge 'Jews existence in Australia' or 'Muslim existence in Australia' or 'Spanish existence in Australia' or 'Hindi existence in Australia'?

But only if the genuine 'First Peoples' {the Negritoes} are recognised and not the later arriving phoney 'Aboriginals'

About time we have an answer anthem written by a an Aussie not by some Scottish bloke who never lived here

Well a ratbag here

Won't be singing or acknowledging it that's for sure

Stop letting Jones sidestep what he should be answering.. Have him comment on the St.Kevins grooming issue.

Yep wouldn't expect anything different from you princess Alan. Bending over and taking it like the rest of the country. What would be 'perfectly reasonable' is if the mobs mentality of give me give me just gave up already. Sick of your whining whining FKN whining.❤🇦🇺instead

When did Jones become a lefty?

Let's change it to the 'Micky Mouse Club' song it shows the world we are a joke.

We’re either 1 nation under 1 flag or we’re not. Up until 1973 & 1976 respectively there was no aboriginal flag or “welcome to country”...descendants of present day Tamil Nadu are 100s of tribes with as many languages. The 1st people - the pygmies - were genocided by these tribes

What you need to do is to update the sound of your national anthem not the words. Get these guys to do it and you will have the greatest national anthem that ever rocked the planet. australiannationalanthem acdc

Wasn't in favour 'on principle' BUT truth is, most people wouldn't notice change & additional verse is pretty good.

The southern Cross actually is a celebration symbol of unamity!..it's a fireworks display symbol of unamity!

Simple question: will it change a dam thing? NO

Unamity, its a unity of unanimous decision!

They are already acknowledged. What on earth do you think, 'Australians all let us rejoice', means. We're all Australians, so we're all acknowledged in it. Far out. Stop with the divisive agendas. It's Sick to continually push agendas to try and create division!

The NATIONAL anthem is about the NATION of Australia, which only came into being 1901. That has nothing to do the length of time aboriginals have been living in the Australian Continent.

No thanks, Alan. That's worthless virtue signaling. Is there *anyone* who doesn't 'acknowledge' the existence of indigenous people? No there isn't. And even if there was, would changing some words in the national anthem help?

Can we also acknowledge left handed people, oh and redheads as well. Thank you very much

Espionage activities are 'reaching a high point' in Australia | Sky News AustraliaExecutive Director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute Peter Jennings said the operation of foreign spies on Australian soil recently uncovered by ASIO indicates that our political independence” could be seriously compromised.\n\nOn Monday ASIO Director-General of Security Mike Burgess said a sleeper agent had been operating in Australia for years, gathering intelligence on dissidents before he was caught by the intelligence organisation and thrown out of the country.\n\n“What Mr Burgess did was lift the veil on a number of intelligence practices which will come as news to a lot of people in the broader community,” Mr Jennings told Sky News Host Chris Kenny. \n\n “These types of espionage activities have been happening in Australia for many years” but they are “reaching a high point at this moment,” he said. \n\nMr Jennings believes it to be “critically important” that Australians understand the significance of the threat that has been uncovered by ASIO and don’t think of it as “some type of James Bond fiction”.\n\nWhile the government has not publicly attributed the espionage operation to any particular nation, Mr Jennings said “China is the biggest strategic problem that we face at the moment”. \n But spy for what? Technology? Soil? Weather? Energy? Not sure what the spies look for. Why not turn the guy and have him feed back ambigious info implying other suspected spies had turned....then kick back & watch the show. No point outing him & deporting the guy. Hell just be replaced by another agent. It wouldnt be hard to make him afraid of going back to china.
