'Many schools have been approached by parents who’ve lost their jobs and fear they will have to withdraw their children from the school, or who have sought a fee reduction'

Non-government schools − which teach 36 per cent of Victorian students − are privately reporting they have been inundated with families requesting school fee reductions or waivers.

"We have no choice but to issue an invoice, alas. We need the fees in order to maintain our obligations, the most significant of which is to our staff," principal Nick Evans said. "We ask those of you who can, to pay their fees as invoiced."Paul Jeffers Other high-fee schools that have urged families with fee troubles to approach them include boys' school St Kevin's College, Brighton Grammar, Mount Scopus Memorial College in Burwood, and girls' schools St Catherine's and Lauriston.
