Prime Minister steps in over Origin anthem furore

"We have always been committed to the anthem as shown at the Grand Final last weekend," the statement read.

"We have always been a Commission that listens to our fans. We have heard the message and acted accordingly." "The game has always been committed to playing the national anthem, as we demonstrated at the grand final, as we'll continue to demonstrate at our major events at Test matches and Anzac Day," Abdo said as he fronted media.

"It was important to always listen to the public. This was never about politics. This was never intended to create a divisive issue for us. Particularly, as we've done so much together to fight through COVID-19. Therefore, as soon as this did become a divisive issue the decision that the commission made was to revert to playing the national anthem for State of Origin."

Was ampolaustralia aware this was the decision made by the NRL or the NRL make a big game play which would of most likely had a damaging effect on its new major sponsor on its own? Was AmpolAustralia aware of this PR nightmare?Asking for large crowd that drive to the games!

What did the NRLsponsors know about this before the media released it. Were they aware this was happening? This is important, the backlash sponsors have faced in past for being connected with teams after scandals.Were they given an opportunity to react?Did they agree with it?
