A Queensland couple who travelled to Fiji for a relaxing 'babymoon' are now among the many Australian travellers stuck overseas due to the coronavirus outbreak.

At a press conference on Friday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said an arrangement was in place for Australians stranded in Peru, while a group from the United States and Hawaii had also recently returned.

"Australian citizens, wherever they are through our consular services, get that support. We will do our best to support them in whichever way we can."

Like those boarding cheap cruises - how is their stupidity the problem of the Government and tax payer. A free Country comes with responsibility.

Worst. Decision. Ever.

They left on the 15th and you are writing a story about them? Fools! There is no cure for idiots

They flew to Fiji on March 15th. That was stupid

My father is also stuck in nadi . He is 71 . It’s unsafe but he cannot get home . He is lucky he lives their part time but at his age and Fiji’s limited hospital facilities i so worried for him !

They only went on 15th of March. Another classic example of idiots not taking the current situation seriously. Unfortunately, this is why we need extreme measure such as borders closing and forced quarantine in hotels.

They left on March 15th 🤦‍♂️

When did they leave Australia? Because the first case was late January. March was it? Yeah, don't care.

Could think of worse places to be stranded. Drink some Kava and chill.

Can we stop reporting on stupid people

15th of March? They knew the risks, stupidity

Left Aus March 15th ..absolutely no sympathy.

TIME PEOPLE STARTED TO USE THEIR BRAINS, FANCY LEAVING AUSTRALIA ON THE 15TH MARCH!

The couple is unemployed and still decide to go overseas. They should blame themselves. As usual, Aussie's self-control is very weak. As you can see, many businesses close down because they do not reserve in the bank to survive. No savings and hope to get help from the Govt.

rarely do you see the Twittersphere agree on anything and not blame Scott Morrison - well done everyone, this couple chose to put themselves and their baby in danger.

The government announcements have been consistently behind expert and international advice. The media has been quick to point this out for us. Common sense should have prevailed. I'm sorry you find youselves in this situation but take responsibility for your own poor choices.

Common sense is just not that common.

Pregnant and idiot enough to fly out on March 15.

left on March the 15th. no one in the whole wide world can google.

As usual ABC touts its loser position.

legalisetweed I feel like everyone had weeks to get home and if you didn’t then you made a concerted choice not to

This will happen 100% yes, you will be stuck. Least you may have some time to reflect?

I rely on the ABC for news and updates. This is absolute bullshit journalism. Stop immediately. They left 15th March! In the peak of corona hysteria. COVID19Aus selfish fixstupid

Slow news day today to run this shit. How does unemployed afford to go overseas during crisis?

After outbreak started, Some many people post on social media that they don’t give a shit about this virus pandemic. They would keep traveling and enjoying everyday. People need to take responsibility for their own actions

Wish i was stuck in Fiji🤔

Smart move travelling to a developing country during a global pandemic whilst pregnant... Of course they want the taxpayer to fix their stupid.

‘The couple left Australia on March 15 ……’ I hate to say it’s been two months since the world knows Covid-19, and all these people just have been ignoring warnings from governments and throw themselves into trouble straight away, and then ask for help innocently. Shameless

Who cares

They left Australian on March 15th.. now they are stranded. Ok...

They left 15 March Come on.

they could afford to go on holiday while jobless Centrelink wont give them dole if they r overseas Wuhan news was in Jan but they went on holiday willy nilly

What stupidity!

March 15 departure? To no fault of your own? Did you travel to Fiji from Mars People like you are risking people’s lives!!!!! Enjoy Fiji!

Please don’t bring us such crap stories, ABC. Raise your standards.

That left for Fiji on 15/03, the height of stupidity. Now they want the taxpayer to help them.

I can think of worse places.

shouldn't have gone

There are plenty of worse places to be stuck. There was plenty of warning this was coming, they could have stayed home.

The couple left Australia March 15...nuff said, idiots

All of sudden they found themselves in Fiji ? Didn’t know what’s going on. ? Really ? And as usual crying 😭 for government to bring them in. No problem, $ 2000 each for returning flight ✈️

This is appalling. ScottMorrisonMP needs to bring home aussies who are stranded overseas auspol Dutton

They left the country when everyone already knew what was happening. No sympathy for these idiots.

Senator Jacqui Lambie ‘begging’ for lockdown of AustraliaSenator Jacqui Lambie has pleaded with PM Scott Morrison to lock the country down before the weekend to defeat the virus “in one swift kick”. She will back down if they offer her a new bridge in Tassie. The challenge is that the Chief Medical Officer and the Advisory Committee do not believe that it can be defeated in one 'swift' kick. They believe (presumably on good evidence and expertise that exceeds mine and Jacqui's) that it will take much longer. She wants to destroy the economy!
