Designs for Parramatta's Powerhouse Museum are expected to be unveiled this week as costs of its relocation mount | LindaMorrissmh

The winning design for Parramatta's new Powerhouse Museum is expected to be announced as early as this week as the Berejiklian government seeks to draw a line under bitter protests that have marked its decision to relocate the venerable institution from its home in inner-city Sydney.

The final decision has been kept under wraps with the government yet to deny claims that the museum's new riverside home will come at the expense of the state heritage-listed 1870s-built Italianate villa and former maternity hospital, Willow Grove.

"They’re splurging $1.5 billion to shrink the Powerhouse Museum and move it 23 kilometres west to a flood-prone riverbank, building a smaller, less accessible museum with demonstrably inferior facilities to what the Powerhouse already owns at Ultimo," museum and heritage consultant Kylie Winkworth said.

In its 2018-19 annual report, the Department of Planning put expenses of developing the new Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences museum on the Parramatta Riverside atExpenses incurred at Ultimo has been estimated at $2.5 million, about half of the $5 million set aside for this work.

LindaMorrissmh Why not move the corrupt NSW Parliament to Parramatta instead and sell Macquarie St to developers, it would a great place for a new casino.

LindaMorrissmh No tourists will go there.

LindaMorrissmh RealMarkLatham, please do your best to get to the bottom this. No case to move the museum, but GladysB hell bent on doing it anyway. Why? Only corruption at the highest level with the LiberalNSW party could possibly explain it.

LindaMorrissmh Time to come clean GladysB. Why are you so intent on building a museum which will be smaller than the existing one, built on a floodplain, require the demolition of heritage buildings, and is going to cost the taxpayer billions, even once you've sold the old site to developers?

LindaMorrissmh it is going to cost over $100mils It Powerhouse museum stays in Pyrmont it would cost nothing Totally unnecessary cost

Wheel clamping in this suburb is so bad even the parking inspectors get clampedA debate about rampant wheel clamping in parts of Perth hits a new level after a photo emerges of a parking inspector car that got wheel clamped in Perth overnight. You should always have a battery powered metal cutter in your car to cut this con scam off Enterprising folks with battery-powered angle grinders could really clean up if they offered a reasonably priced service to those drivers. Look up 'lock picking lawyer' on YouTube & you'll have that baby off in a jiffy.

Optus gives them a free sim card with unlimited calls and texts and 10 gigabytes of data made up from what people donate”.\n Seriously!! Never heard anything more ridiculous Is this going to be policed or have parental locks on this internet access? if not your just opening the flood gates for pedo smorgasbord hasntanyonelearnedfromthis We used to think food, clothes, shelter and a little love was all that was needed for a family in poverty to survive and get a hand up in life. Now apparently it is data for internet use, so that kids can do what with it? Wouldn't school clothes and books be a better idea?
