A police spokeswoman said the man was shot between about 7.30pm and 7.45pm on Tuesday after raising his weapon at police. She could not say how many shots police fired.
But it wasn't until about 3pm police say he brandished a firearm, prompting specialist officers to rush to the scene. Police remained on the scene while the ethical standards command investigated the incident, as part of standard procedure in any police shooting.
