Sky News host Alan Jones says services were held around Australia on Tuesday to mark National Police Remembrance Day.

The day recognises police officers from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific who paid the ultimate price while on duty. Mr Jones said the first recorded death of a police officer in Australia was Constable Joseph Luker who was assaulted and stabbed by offenders on 26th of August 1803. Memorial services took place in every state and territory in Australia to mark the day. Mr Jones discussed the role police play in public safety with NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller.

Mr Fuller said his appeal to the wider public was, “we understand that policing is a contact sport, and from time to time we may disappoint the community.” “But overall, NSW is such a safe state, and it is a safe state because the police are out there,” Mr Fuller said. “Police are prepared to put their life before someone else’s, there’s not too many people who can say that.

UK police force is 'woke and only allows protests by the chattering classes' | Sky News AustraliaSpiked Editor Brendan O’Neil says the behaviour of the police in the UK has been “staggering and hypocritical” as they’ve bowed down to Black Lives Matter protestors but used extreme force against those protesting the lockdowns. \n\n“We now have a highly politicised police force,” Mr O’Neil told Sky News host Chris Kenny.\n\n“Police officers in London took the knee to the Black Lives Matter protestors, they actually bowed down to them, they also allowed extinction rebellion protests to go ahead, but when there was this anti-lockdown priest in Trafalgar square at the weekend, they used extreme force.\n\n“We saw riot police actually hitting people and throwing people off the streets and turning to prevent them from speaking.\n\n'This is now, it looks like, a police force that is woke, that is politically correct and will allow your protest to go ahead if it adheres to the outlook of the chattering classes.\n\n“But if it doesn’t, you’re in trouble, and they will throw you off the streets.”\n BLM protests don't generate potential harm to society. Not wearing masks DOES! Wake up. We, as a people, need to rally together to exert political power over our governments. We created this system, we can shape it. They want identity politics? Andrews will ‘throw anybody under the bus’ to avoid taking responsibility | Sky News AustraliaPremier Daniel Andrews is only trying to “dig in and protect his job” as hundreds of Victorians have died from the coronavirus, with millions still locked down, according to state Opposition Leader Michael O’Brien.\n\nCounsel assisting the COVID-19 Hotel Quarantine Inquiry said on Monday the bungling of the hotel quarantine facilities led to all of Victoria’s 768 second wave deaths.\n\nMr O’Brien said the ensuing expansive lockdown did not need to be endured by Victorians, but it was “something we had to put up with only because of this government was completely incompetent”.\n\n“Incompetent to allow the second wave to occur through hotel quarantine, but then incompetent to keep us in the second wave through bungled contact tracing,” Mr O’Brien told Sky News.\n\n“It’s been a disaster from pillar to post”.\n\nThe inquiry heard evidence from Health Minister Jenny Mikakos on Wednesday, who after the premier fronted the inquiry and laid the blame on her feet, resigned on Saturday.\n\nMs Mikakos resigned to the governor rather than to Mr Andrews, and has indicated she disagreed with parts of the premier’s evidence.\n\n“It shows you how dysfunctional this government has become,” Mr O’Brien said.\n\n“Andrews is prepared to throw anybody else under a bus to avoid taking responsibility for what he’s done. Ultimately, he’s the premier, the buck stops with him.\n\n“This is the greatest public policy disaster in the state’s history.”\n\n DanielAndrewsMP michaelobrienmp Haha imagine thinking this guy can run a state.
