Scott Morrison’s government says it will commit another $1 billion towards the health of the Great Barrier Reef.

The battle for key seats in far north Queensland will ratchet up on Friday, when Prime Minister Scott Morrison commits another $1 billion towards the health of the Great Barrier Reef.to pledge $163 million in funds

The money will be in addition to the $2 billion already committed under the Reef2050 plan, a joint Commonwealth and Queensland government initiative to improve the reef’s sustainability over the next three decades.Great Barrier Reef FoundationWith a federal election due by May, Queensland will be one of the pivotal states, with the Coalition needing to retain all 23 electorates it holds in the 30-seat state.

“This is already the best managed reef in the world, and today we take our commitment to a new level.”

If it translates into meaningful work to care for and save this magnificent natural wonder any $ are good $. It will not be sufficient though while lazy and self interested pollies do so little to address the real issue of climate change. It just prolongs the GBRs death.
