NSW motorists fuming at steep increases in tolls will have to wait until at least 2025 for the Coalition to shake-up the state’s road network pricing, according to Premier Dominic Perrottet who unveiled a cashback scheme in the NSW election lead-up.
“We are putting more money back in the pockets of NSW families which will provide a boost to their household budgets,” Mr Perrottet said. “We’re able to provide relief to drivers at a time when they need it most.” But the debate has been hampered by the government’s foot dragging on a long-awaited review into the state’s road network. Mr Perrottet revealed last week that the review wouldn’t finish until the next term of government. On Monday, he pledged major reform to drive down prices by 2025.
The network approach has also been supported by Infrastructure Australia which has called for cashback and rebate measures to be scrapped and put towards compensating tollroad owners for a shake-up to the pricing model.On Monday, the premier said one reform could include approaching the state’s roads as one integrated system rather than a patchwork. He also committed to a shake-up of the tolling system before 2025.

NSW toll relief scheme starts todaySydney motorists are set to receive a big rebate on tolls as part of the New South Wales government's cost of living relief. The new measures will allow drivers who spend more than $375 a year on tolls to claim up to 40 per cent back.
