Former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has claimed people are "losing their minds" by calling for a Victorian health official to be sacked over a controversial tweet. The state's Deputy Chief Health Officer Annaliese van Diemen, stirred-up controversy, when she compared the coronavirus to Captain Cook's voyage to Australia.
Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has called for her resignation and Victoria's Public Sector Commission has initiated an investigation into the doctor's remarks. However, Mr Turnbull rejected Mr Dutton's suggestion on Twitter saying "comparing the Covid virus to Cook's arrival was a contentious long bow drawn by Van Diemen.

The Deputy CHO is 'Very capable' according to Mr Turnbull's study of her work. Yet he does not even know her job title! Seems pretty much like a knee-jerk stunt for some publicity and in truth he has no idea whether the Deputy CHO's capability is good, poor or average.
