Independent Senator corybernardi says PaulineHansonOz “is playing the populist card” on milk following her failed push to have a base price implemented for the commodity.

Independent Senator Cory Bernardi says Pauline Hanson “is playing the populist card” on milk following her failed push to have a base price implemented for the commodity. One Nation leader Pauline Hanson had said she was “really devastated” when a bill to require the ACCC to determine a base price for milk failed in the Senate by one vote.

"The idea that somehow consumers should be forced to pay more [for milk] because Pauline Hanson wants to throw a hissy fit in the Senate is just a joke,” Mr Bernardi told Sky News host Paul Murray. “No one is talking about having a floor price for yogurt, or for cheese or anything else… this is retreating back to the 1970s,” he said. Mr Bernardi said a floor price for goods “doesn’t work, it’s as simple as that”.

corybernardi PaulineHansonOz corybernardi duopolies destroying local businesses for short time gains is not the free market in action. I don’t vote for OneNationAus but on this I fully support their move. A handbrake needed to be applied and it was a dog act for parliament not to set fair limits.

corybernardi PaulineHansonOz The Senator needs to go to France, Spain or Portugal and try to buy fresh milk. If we dont protect our dairy farmets fron Woolworths, then we will be drinking UHT milk

corybernardi PaulineHansonOz corybernardi is a few levels below PaulineHansonOz

corybernardi PaulineHansonOz Nope. The Nats rooted dairy farmers, refused to guarantee a minimum price for milk, and sold them out to corporate interests.
