One Nation Leader PaulineHansonOz has called it “ridiculous” to source harvest workers outside of Australia when more than a million Australians are unemployed and on JobSeeker and even more are underemployed.

One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson has called it “ridiculous” to source harvest workers outside of Australia when more than a million Australians are unemployed and on JobSeeker and even more are underemployed. The federal government on Tuesday announced a pilot program which would see 170 workers from Vanuatu flown to the Northern Territory where they would isolate for a number of weeks before heading out to help farmers pick fruit.

Some farmers faced losing their fruit crops as hundreds of workers who normally came from the Pacific Islands as fruit pickers were unable to travel to Australia due to international border restrictions. Senator Hanson said the work should be given to unemployed Australians.

PaulineHansonOz Send the Africans or Muslims up there to earn their welfare

PaulineHansonOz But they don’t want to work. The long term unemployed should be forced to work first, not the just barge in sun, surf or do drugs daily instead.

PaulineHansonOz Bit hard to do when no matter him many times you apply you rarely get a call back (if ever) as its easier to treat foreigners like shit.

Jackk_Burton PaulineHansonOz Aussie kids are too bloody lazy to do farm work. Dole and beaches are preferred.

PaulineHansonOz If she had half a brain like trump I would actually consider voting her in

PaulineHansonOz Where are all the unemployed nowadays? Just drive to the farms and I got hired. Never asked for resume, just neede muscles and hat.

PaulineHansonOz Yep, been there done that, paid for my own high school fee and uni education. No shame at all.

PaulineHansonOz True but it like most jobs need to be paid more, no one in their right mind will work for less anymore even if it means having no job. Raise the standard hourly rate and you may find more Aussies going back to grindy slave type jobs!

PaulineHansonOz What Senator Hanson isnt aware of, is the low wages that are really paid... I have a friend in NQ who has witnessed the poor wages and conditions these Foreign workers suffer.....it is pathetic......hope you enjoyed that $1 Mango, picked by virtually slave labour

PaulineHansonOz If you refuse to work you have the dole refused. PaulineHansonOz Is 100% spot on.

PaulineHansonOz Shit job that no one wants to do

PaulineHansonOz I put up an job ad recently for the same wage and with pretty well same wording as pre 'pandemic' and received a whopping 5 inquiries. Typically in pre Covid times I would receive 10+. Times change I guess.

PaulineHansonOz Absolutely! There's a bunch under-employed federal govt politicians thanks to the PM...

PaulineHansonOz Well thats a pretty obvious statement. Most parties would have the same opinion.

PaulineHansonOz COOEEE? Those inner city unemployable latte sippers aren't listening. Their heads are still under their doonas until midday

PaulineHansonOz Trump just done the right thing in America and we need to open our eyes to ,the same thing happens in Australia aswel, just open your eyes to how the numbers of Indian people are now in Australia. Andrew's hotel Security guards are just an example. WAKE UP AUSSIES

PaulineHansonOz 😂

SouthernCross_Q PaulineHansonOz The backpackers do invaluable work in ag crops throughout Australia. Getting folks from their city environs, into the paddocks, even without lockdown, will be an interesting experience! Great if it works. But hard graft!

PaulineHansonOz Completely agree, farmers please advertise locally for local jobs.

PaulineHansonOz True. JobSeekers should be fruit picking.

PaulineHansonOz Australians do not want to work these jobs, it requires hard work to get good pay as you are paid for the effort/skill.

PaulineHansonOz Omg she’s actually making sense for once. Bare in mind it does mean if you have dependents you’d have to leave them behind

PaulineHansonOz Sounds great pick fruit 5 days a week to earn less than the benefit... Sounds realistic

PaulineHansonOz Yeah! Are they after slave labour?

PaulineHansonOz So she wants the unemployed in this country to work for $7 an hour . That’s what they paid an English worker waiting on a visa . And who is underemployed? Oh wait politicians fall asleep at work Pauline Hanson start picking fruit .

margmopp PaulineHansonOz She is right. Again!

PaulineHansonOz We also must prevent food shortages. And if there are a dearth of pickers the food will be left to rot and not get through to consumers.

PaulineHansonOz 20 year OSHA-Expert PPE distroys mask Narrative, how, why masks are medicaly used, medical waver to opt out, school fees withheld until no mask. sayno

PaulineHansonOz Is DontbeaPauline out fruit picking now that she is not working, she’s happy to sit around while taxpayers pay her way. Get back to parliament get back to work.

PaulineHansonOz Their plan is to get rid of us, fill the jobs with $5 P/h people, .. it's obvious. But first, they have to bankrupt everyone.

justinian1453 PaulineHansonOz She is quite right.

PaulineHansonOz But overseas workers can be more easily exploited can't they?

PaulineHansonOz I picked and packed fruit when I was younger. It’s not rocket science Long term unemployed under 45 should be made to do it. I was on the dole for 3 years and finally got a job 4 years ago. Tertiary educated, I now clean public toilets. Better than dole

PaulineHansonOz Pull Jobkeeper that get them off their ass if not don't cry when fruit and vegetables prices go up

PaulineHansonOz Lazy pricks won't do the work. Same for meat works. They gave labour shortages because Australians refuse to work in dirty industries.

PaulineHansonOz That's a very good idea, help the farmers out, and stop the produce from rotting.

PaulineHansonOz You can fill a handful of those jobs, you can’t force someone to do farming just because you have people and jobs. What logic is this? If someone is an engineer and unemployed would you say go do farming we have jobs there?

kelliekelly23 PaulineHansonOz You are right Pauline ✅ you have enough workers in Australia put your own people back to work

PaulineHansonOz If they want workers they should pay award wages.

bill_dobell PaulineHansonOz How about Australia's million unemployed meet farmers halfway on this one? ... by actually .. y'know... applying for jobs?

PaulineHansonOz Because most people won’t go to these locations to work that’s why

PaulineHansonOz She might find that not everyone is willing to work for very very very low pay and most people won’t do the fruit picking unless they’re sourced from overseas sad but true

PaulineHansonOz How many people refuse manual work?

PaulineHansonOz Yes i am sure they want give up the $1500 a week for doing nothing.

PaulineHansonOz Exactly....why should you need to outsource overseas for workers when so many are unemployed right here ...i know why ...GREED ...

PaulineHansonOz It is anti Australian pure and simple

PaulineHansonOz Ofcourse she is right,as usual...how can you even debate this? 🤣

PaulineHansonOz What age does she accept can do this work? A 50 to 65 year-old office worker who has just lost their job? Does she agrees that they will be paid award wages, that suitable accommodation will be found not some barn set up as barracks. Easy making general statements. Need detail

PaulineHansonOz If Only they were Paid an Appropriate Wage. The Only reason these workers are bought to Australia is for Cheap Labor and exploration

PaulineHansonOz Why does PaulineHansonOz always speak the obvious and everyone attacks her?

MRobertsQLD PaulineHansonOz Totally agree. Younger JobSeekers should be offered these jobs and if don't accept lose benefits. Just because they feel these jobs are below their dignity or they may have to work too hard is no excuse.

PaulineHansonOz First time Pauline has ever made a sensible suggestion?

PaulineHansonOz Well pay them properly then.

PaulineHansonOz So Matt Canavan says Australians can't be taught the skills required in such a short time frame? Aren't we talking about fruit picking, what skills are required for fruit picking FFS. Get these lazy pricks off their arses and put them to work.

MRobertsQLD PaulineHansonOz helendalton22 Hanson shows her ignorance once more & has proved she can’t be trusted as she backs major parties in destroying the livelihoods of farmers, inc selling our precious water to China, Canada & the Uk. Border issues have been problematic.

PaulineHansonOz Well when wife and I take the caravan on the Big Lap around Oz we'll have a crack at supporting producers. We're not precious and of the belief that type of work us beneath us.

AllanBr45802166 PaulineHansonOz Correct again.

MRobertsQLD PaulineHansonOz Pauline must get so frustrated that she talks sound sense and nobody listens just because she's Pauline Hanson.

PaulineHansonOz Because in the free world people can not be forced to jobs, move towns etc.

PaulineHansonOz Maybe the non working politicians should be first to start picking. They’re getting well paid to not work.

PaulineHansonOz Totally agree & those on the Dole , should WORK for that dole & be sent to those farms to WORK for it !

PaulineHansonOz Correct as usual.

PaulineHansonOz She's making sense and grabbing voters that are sick of the 2 big parties n deserting them. ...must be almost time for them to set her up again. Pauline

PaulineHansonOz I think she should lead by example, get out there Pauline and start picking, after all she doesn’t do anything else that is useful these days since she stopped selling fish and chips.

PaulineHansonOz Who cares what Clown 🤡 Hanson thinks

PaulineHansonOz Agree. Employ them on award pay and conditions.

PaulineHansonOz Have to agree but how do you motivate jobless folk who've been brought up with the idea 'you are special, you can achieve anything you set your mind to' . (After you've gained some real life experience)

PaulineHansonOz

PaulineHansonOz She and the dimwits in the comments here have no idea how this industry works. Unless you are going to force people out there, these farmers will suffer. Harvest workers are traditionally backpackers, transient labour. Which is non-existent right now. But keep whistlin' Pauline

PaulineHansonOz The liberal/one nation ministers should be called seasonal workers..that’s all they do.

PaulineHansonOz Majority of unemployed Australia’ns are dole bludgers and don’t want to work

PaulineHansonOz One of the many problems we in the UK have had with the EU is workers from poorer countries exercising their right to freedom of movement and causing myriad problems in our society.

PaulineHansonOz Nothing stopping her getting out there and picking fruit.

PaulineHansonOz But find an Aussie who will pick fruit?

PaulineHansonOz Backpackers have returned to their home countries. Living conditions on the farms/hostels aren't for everyone. Talk to the farmers about living conditions, treatment of staff & work conditions. That's why locals don't want to do it.
