As Scott Morrison moved to “take responsibility” for a $60 billion JobKeeper costings bungle, he hinted the scheme could be extended on Sunday, but only in a more targeted way to help tourism workers hit by the closure of international borders.
“Now, there are many challenges that the economy will face beyond September. We know that and there are particular sectors that will feel this for longer, particularly those who are particularly dependent on international borders,’’ Mr Morrison said. But the Prime Minister is digging in and resisting calls to expand the scheme to more casuals, university workers, and foreign visa holders. However, he is open to more ‘targeted assistance’.
Scott Morrison says Australians should welcome the money saved through its $60 billion reporting error in the JobKeeper scheme.
Government trying their hardest to redistribute wealth.
Of course, go after the casuals and low paid getting a little bit extra while leaving the big dollar milking by big companies to slide by. Usual BS by this govt. They screw up but those who can least afford it are made to pay.
Also those already on unemployment benefits. They had their money doubled for nothing.
Big winners, really?
samanthamaiden The SnapBack was always going to be a vindictive snatchback. Robodept version 2.
samanthamaiden So when everyone eligible gets an equal amount, the socialist media still complain? Now you don't want equal pay?
samanthamaiden Is this true? “To qualify, businesses only had to tell the ATO they expected revenue to fall by 30 per cent over a one-month period to qualify for the entire six months.” As a Sole Trader, with 0 employees, I’m expecting to report my revenue each month.
samanthamaiden Anyone who thought they were going to keep that job keeper money are delusional the Liberals will be getting it back

Government's $60b accounting bungle ups pressure to extend JobKeeper schemeWith $60 billion now on the table, various stakeholders are trying to get their hands on a portion of the money with calls to extend the JobKeeper scheme to those still in need. 9News ...we the taxpayers say give it all back to where we took it from or channel it into demonstrably productive ventures the make a profit/return on investment...this is our future being squandered here - it's not free money!!! Surely more will be spent on Jobkeeper to prolong it. No brainer! How about we NOT just spend it just because we aren’t using it. I don’t want my kids to still be repaying this debt for many years to come, the less we can spent to get thru this the better we will all be off in the coming years
