Liz Cheney among those to condemn remarks by former House speaker as committee member Zoe Lofgren says: ‘I think Newt has really lost it’

Calling the members of the 6 January committee “wolves [who] are going to find out that they’re now sheep”, he said that if Republicans take Congress in November, “this is all going to come crashing down … they’re the ones who in fact, I think, face a real risk of jail for the kinds of laws they’re breaking”.

Gingrich said: “You have, both with Attorney General [Merrick] Garland and this select committee on 6 January, people who have run amok … they’re running over people’s civil liberties. Alluding to Trump’s attempt to overturn his defeat in part through the Capitol putsch, Lofgren added: “I mean, unless he is assuming that the government does get overthrown and there’s no system of justice.”

Newt should be jailed for undermining public confidence and treason. I can’t help but think there’s going to be a major power reset in America. Someone, maybe many are going to be dealt with harshly soon.

Calling the Sydney festival boycott ‘censorship’ is a disingenuous attempt by those in power to silence Palestinians | Randa Abdel-FattahThose who attack cultural boycotts in the name of ‘free speech’ are conveniently missing when Palestinians are routinely bullied for speaking their truth The real question is where do you draw the line on donations including from private money? Wouldn’t be much left if they continue this kind of boycott. Those that could afford to make a statement that achieves nothing did so at the expense of those who’ve suffered without their financial stability and in sight of some reprieve.
