economy. So all the other players – politicians, economists, even business people – are there to serve our interests. Rather than becoming alienated from the process, we should be holding them to account.
This era of “economic rationalism” and “microeconomic reform” has ended, leaving Scott Morrison with much damage to clean up. Meanwhile, many voters are disillusioned and distrustful of both main parties, and are turning elsewhere to populists such as Pauline Hanson, who not only have no answers to the problems that bother us, but also seek our support by blaming our troubles on unpopular scapegoats – Muslims, city-slickers etc.
So why don’t governments cut to the chase and simply make treating us in such ways illegal? And when doing so is already illegal – as it usually is – why don’t they resume adequately policing those laws?
Housing problem won’t change because it’s a market-driven system supported by both federal and state levels of government.
MorrisonsMushr1 We can fix both. Australia is a Sovereign wealth nation where Federal spending is not restrained by tax collected only the resources we have and the Govt's agenda. LearnMMT
Geezers have all the money, so everyone will kiss our asses and even wipe our asses. That's because no one likes 'socialism'. (Socialism is where everybody gets a wipe and the givers get a future. Capitalism is where I get all the wipes I want by gig workers who have no benefits)
If you want an insight into where the costs are for housing subdivide a quarter acre block into 2.Seems everyone wants a piece of the action. Utilities, council charges and anything that requires correspondence, Town planners etc: and Infrastructure charges just the cream.
...it never has, ever.

Get rid of negative gearing, capital gains on the the family home ( allow interest deductions ) and prices will plummet
every person on this planet is a contemporary The arrogance that one generation is more important than others is stupidity. If generations worked together to contribute in their time we wouldn't have any problem but the the manipulation by the marketplace distorts humanity.
Labor had some good policies but Clive Palmer and Rupert Murdoch didn’t like them.
Yep favours the haves
Every time we do that the real estate bods snap it up
There is no fixing it because of population growth of 1/2 a million every year & foreign ownership . We are in a population ponzi scheme that has also increased demand & prices for the rental markets.
Sounds like the fricking stupid Che Grevara talking ......
We could also fix housing affordability if we stopped immigrants crowding into the country too. Without immigrants pushing down wages & pushing up home prices & rents, housing would be much more affordable. But the corporate leaders prefer Profits$ over the well being of people
Just look at the nursing homes can’t blame old people wanting to stay in their own home that they worked and paid for so maybe make the nursing and retirement homes better run instead of fleecing the elderly
It’s all government’s fault, allowing housing to be used as an international commodity, very irresponsible, almost a crime against your own people
We don't need to sacrifice the interests of one group to meet the needs of another. We could happily meet the housing needs of both parties.
There are house being bought every weekend for over inflated prices - then left empty - this needs to STOP
Code for transfer of wealth from whites to immigrants
Old meaning the average Australian who has paid taxes all their lives and worked bloody hard. I say bullshit as an average 55 yr old.
