Sky News host Chris Kenny says nuclear energy is the “silver bullet solution” to the problem of finding reliable emissions-free baseload power which could allow Australia to reach net zero by 2050.

Mr Kenny said the Liberal and Labor parties have tried to pretend a net zero emissions by 2050 target could be reached with renewables and storage, but he argued this was an “impossibility”.“Well, there’s only one form of energy that fits those three criteria – that’s nuclear.”

Mr Kenny’s documentary ‘Going Nuclear: The Clean Energy Debate’ will air on Monday, October 25, at 8pm AEDT on Sky News Australia.

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO & NO to infinity.

A major environmental concern related to nuclear power is the creation of radioactive wastes such as uranium mill tailings, spent (used) reactor fuel, and other radioactive wastes. These materials can remain radioactive and dangerous to human health for thousands of years.

Operation go slow. So carbon tax to offset polluting meanwhile?

Who would be stupid enough to listen to Chris Kenny?

Chris Kenny would know too, what with all his years of blind climate denialism and the pedalling of it in the media. Why are you so determined to expose Australia to a Nuclear threat from would be enemies? That's what'll happen if we have Nuclear capabilities.

Anyone else starting to suspect that Murdoch has shares in some uranium companies?

Chris ..A 'silver bullet solution', what a load of rubbish. Has News Corp or any politician found a nuclear plant that is profitable? If it ain't profitable, our taxes that are going to be poured into them, our taxes going to overseas companies. Higher energy bills to follow

Why bother I thought global warming was bullshit ... well, according to you muppets at Sky.

Is Chris Kenny going to wear the costs and the risk?

A s the nuclear waste goes into his backyard. Thanks Chris Kenny.

Damn I hate when I agree with this guy

Coming from Chris Kenny it’s a “no brainer”.

Wonder if Kenny would like one built in his suburb or have the spent waste stored in a facility near his home.

Bowling ball doesn't understand basic science. Not surprised
