NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard has shot down suggestions of moving the state’s hotel quarantine system to the regions as the Queensland government considers processing returned travellers in mining camps | Rabe9 LydiaLynch101

After a recent hotel quarantine scare, which saw a snap three-day lockdown implemented across Brisbane, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has ordered her government to pull together a list of suitable sites outside of the state’s densely populated south-east corner.

"We do not believe there would be any advantages, in fact, there would be distinct disadvantages, for us to be considering moving our public health hotels out of the Sydney regional area," Mr Hazzard said.“There's strong views held in our public health team, it makes sense to continue to have the hotel quarantine arrangements we currently have.”

The weekly intake of international arrivals to NSW was cut last week from 3000 to 1500 under an agreement by the national cabinet amid concerns of the rise of aof COVID-19. NSW has processed more than 114,000 returned travellers through its hotel quarantine system since the beginning of the pandemic.

Rabe9 LydiaLynch101 BradHazzard Good that so far you have not given into the idiotic, knee jerk reaction of QLD. Moving the location of quarantine will not fix the risks or issues. Locking ppl in a room is not sufficient nor is delaying the initial test for 48 hrs. Look to S.Korea or Taiwan methods
