cases and four deaths as hundreds of thousands of students go back to school today in a return to face-to-face learning.Premier Dominic Perrottet has warned that while case numbers and hospitalisations have not faced a forecasted spike in October, the pandemic was "not over".Premier Dominic Perrottet warned there were challenges ahead for NSW.

Mr Perrottet praised teachers, parents and students for their resilience during the state's long lockdown as he announced school sport would resume next week.Mr Perrottet said it was "incredibly important" to bring the return-to-school date forward but acknowledged there would also be a lot of anxiety from parents and students.Students are returning to school across NSW.

She said the government would continue working with NSW Health to clarify advice to families and to minimise the impact on parents."Device access and all of that, we can make sure that's available."Special consideration for HSC students This year, Ms Mitchell said, any student who had been impacted for at least six weeks will be eligible to put forward an application for special consideration.NESA will ensure the HSC marks for successful applicants are "moderated" to reflect their learning environments.
