About 50 homes were lost in 300 bushfires on Tuesday, 19 of which reached 'emergency' warning level. At the peak, there were 16 concurrent emergencies
Temperatures are expected to reach up to eight degrees above average today, while wind gusts up to 40km/h were expected to fan the flames while the change in direction will widen the fire front.The RFS is estimating this morning that yesterday's fire emergencies destroyed about 50 homes across the state. That would bring the total number of homes lost in the last few days of bushfires to about 200.
"What really disappoints me is the fact that four people yesterday were charged with breaching the total fire ban order. In addition to that, there was one minor who was given a caution. Speaking at the first press conference of the day, the Premier said she was "hugely relieved this morning that yesterday our amazing volunteers and emergency service personnel withstood the catastrophic conditions and did manage to save life and property."
