NSW Energy and Environment Minister Matt Kean claims “we’ve exceeded our targets” for backburning amid reports the government has eliminated scores of park rangers.

He said because fires are still burning across the state “now is not the time to point the finger of blame”.

“We’ve got to all pull together and focus on keeping people safe,” Mr Kean said. After the bushfire crisis has passed, he said “we’ll do a review and we’ll make sure we take on the learnings from that review". Image: News Corp Australia

I remember yrs ago park rangers coming into the gun shop handing in the shot guns they used to start fire's for back burning they said no longer needed because of government cuts Australia

When the target is to cut 100 rangers and you’ve exceeded it ...

Your targets 🙄

Wait, hold up a minute.. is it still the greens fault? Even though the LNP “exceeded” its targets?

Matt_KeanMP Well they don’t have a “back burning” target, it’s “hazard reduction”. Why is it so hard to get the terminology right?

Well if what you say is correct, your targets are way to small. All natural bush land needs to have cool burn fires at anytime there’s a buildup of fuel for bushfires. They did it before but the over educated boffins thought they knew better.

Then your targets were not adequate.

these fires don’t count as “back-burning” but , still, most of them are deliberaey lit so technically they can be called “back-burning”

Matt_KeanMP Matt ,that's a lie ,as I asked NPWS if they were going to burn off around Wallabi Point and they said they were not ,look what happened

He is a lair

Low targets....

Macquarie St backburns all completed in full. Imbecile

Well, dickhead, I’d suggest your ‘targets’ are spectacularly inadequate given the intensity and severity of the fires we’ve already seen 🤦‍♂️

He must be a Greens politician, they’re the ones all the nut jobs are blaming. nswpol

So they will continue to be ignorant fools cutting Rangers...and ignoring the 23 highly experienced former fire cheifs warnings that climate change is increasing the severity of bushfires and inhibiting hazard reduction..ignoring that we need better equipment
