Novak Djokovic's visa cancelled by immigration minister

Immigration Minister Alex Hawke has cancelled tennis star Novak Djokovic's visa, days out from the Australian Open.

"Today I exercised my power under section 133C of the Migration Act to cancel the visa held by Mr Novak Djokovic on health and good order grounds, on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so," he said in a statement. Australian Border Force officials cancelled the world No.1's visa for entering the country while unvaccinated, only for the cancellation to be later quashed by a federal court.

I read that Novak plans on defending his total via Zoom. Good for him.

So, my question is: in mid December was Djokovic planning to play in the AusOpen given the only way into the country was to be fully vaccinated or to have had a Covid diagnosis in the preceding 6 months? 🤔
