Students in year 11 and 12 will return to school on Monday while teachers for other year levels will have a week of pupil-free days after the holidays were extended.

Premier Daniel Andrews said a decision had not yet been made on what would happen with schooling for the more junior years.

"There will be options for more distance, because we have less than a full school. We have only a small number in the overall number of students attending each school." "We don't want two VCEs, one from metro Melbourne were there were longer shutdowns than regional and vice versa," he said.Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton acknowledged there were risks with schools as demonstrated with the Al-Taqwa College outbreak which was now the state's largest.

Because they don’t want to pay for the masks? This makes absolutely no sense when your asking the rest of the state to wear masks. covidvic

Don’t worry! Chairman Dan has it all under control! All praise the Leader!

Schools operate against all govt advice consistently urged of the community. Hard to implement social distancing & people congregate from a variety of areas. Inadequate ventilation. In the current situation, it seems negligent to enforce these conditions. Why?

Why are we sending students back to school? Students are not immune to virus. This could be the reason why we have a second wave of infections!

Maybe if people took things seriously and stayed at home we might be in a better position Just saying! DanielAndrewsMP JamesMerlinoMP schools are not safe yet remotelearning Term 3 IStandWithDan

Incorrect. The ‘week of pupil free days’ applies to only some parts of the state. I’m sure you don’t mean to create confusion for families and problems for schools, but you are. How do these sorts of basic errors occur? journalism101

I stand with Dan ✊ as apposed to ......

Because masks don’t work.

2 people got tested and were deemed positive by dodgy testing equipment so lock down poor folk in towers and fuck AGAIN! the working man/woman not to even mention those poor small business owners utterly fucked by all this bullshit. A storm in a fucking teacup.

Massive spike in demand for masks leads to sale restrictionsChemists, hardware stores and major supermarkets were inundated with Melburnians searching for supplies, a day after Premier Daniel Andrews said it was 'almost certain' masks would be part of the state government's long-term coronavirus response. If you can't buy one, make your own. What a surprise- NOT! The idiots who pass for government these days...do nothing for months, don’t get more masks in preparation, wait until there’s a massive outbreak then announce it’s now recommended to wear masks. It was clear from about January that masks are a good idea. So he wants everyone to wear masks but doesn't have enough of them. Rightio.
