It could be up to a week before a decision is made on whether Intervention-era alcohol bans are reinstated in central Australia in a bid to arrest a spike in crime and alcohol-fuelled violence.

The Commonwealth and NT governments will consider "next steps" in cabinet meetings next week

The two leaders met in Canberra to discuss the report delivered to them yesterday by Central Australian Controller, Dorelle Anderson. The prime minister yesterday said he was open to immediate action if it was recommended in the report, while Ms Fyles has emphasised a wish to see a response to the crisis that goes beyond alcohol restrictions.

how about a definitive statement condemning social unrest/antisocial behavior in the indigenous population, albo? Oh, that's right, you're too scared to call a spade a spade act fast or Alice aussie becomes a lawless free for all authorise swift deadly force for violent acts

Letting indig eliminate themselves?

Revenue in exchange for lives and an entire community. Your priorities are clear.

The ABCs reporting of the situation in Alice Springs is nothing short of TREASON ... the ABC is trying to foment hate and chaos by falsifying the facts! They dont want to solve the situation they want to make it WORSE!!

No immediate action on Alice Springs alcohol bans: Albo will act bla bla bla Q: Should Albo do more NOW

Between the two of them they've stuffed it up.

'Parts of the review were leaked during the morning' and 'The review will be released after NT cabinet consideration' So, who the hell leaked parts of the review before the NT cabinet could consider it? Small group involved! Was it linked to all media or, just those sympathetic.

Typical. Too hard to help a community. Let’s just talk about it.

'PM says governments will act on community's wishes'. So why do we need 'the voice to parliament'?

I'm confused now: they reintroduced the ban, then they didn't, someone said they should, now they say the should not, maybe.... Is there an alcohol ban in AS as of now?

Big wake up call for the ALP virtue signallers. The Alice Springs community has to live with the consequences of your policies and the media, except the ABC, are accurately reporting the results. Maybe the intervention was good policy 🤔

it is typical of Labor tip toeing on indigenous rights or racism The NT minister is hopeless She is out of her depth Can you imagine laws by concensus in case she offends any1

Albo wants everyone to do his job for him. He’s no leader.

Which community? The white supremacists or the indigenous?

What no white supremacy ABC ?

Alice Springs locals call for action from NT governmentNT Chamber of Commerce’s Sam Edelman says an Alice Springs business owner has “put forward a motion to sue the NT government for a lack of a duty of care” in a meeting with locals on Monday night to address the town’s crime crisis. “Basically the meeting last night … was to start that process,” Mr Edelman told Sky News Australia. “Now, I don’t think the end game is necessarily to sue the NT government, but I think it’s to really put out the message that we would like some action taken. “To try and resolve some of the youth crime and anti-social behaviour issues that are occurring on the streets of Alice Springs every day and every night.” Good Good. Labor should be kicked out

Alice Springs town meeting ‘disrupted’ by ‘progressive individuals’ hurling abuseCountry Liberal Party Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price says members of the Alice Springs community are “willing to bring a class action” against the Northern Territory government after a large town meeting. “I think this will be the beginning of probably many more possible meetings to come,” Ms Nampijinpa Price told Sky News host James Morrow. “I know there are a lot residents that felt like it should’ve gone longer, but it was disrupted by a small group of progressive individuals. “How dare they bring that nonsense to effectively what is a community meeting of voices who are wanting to be heard.” The news item does not include any information about who and why. The word progressives is used negatively so it’s sounding like a bunch of white racists supported by the National Party. A non story trying whip up hatred against the aboriginal communities. A beautiful picture it looks serene but under the surfaces real problems! Go girl.

‘Delicate conversations’: Calls for children to be removed from families in Alice SpringsAlice Springs Councillor Michael Liddle discusses the need for “delicate conversations” about potentially taking children away from their families and sending them somewhere safe. “Their role model is a big brother, an uncle or cousin who may have took them through the business,” Mr Liddle told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “But when the business is finished, they follow that role model to the pub – follow that role model in doing bad behaviour. “Our role models and mentors, they are not there, we lack them – we lack good role models amongst the Aboriginal society.” Alice Springs Mayor Matt Paterson said there are enough funded organisations to pick the children up and take them somewhere safe, with questions over where exactly to take them. “Now the Child Protection Act is being enacted, I’ve seen that first-hand, and again that breaks your heart, but that is the very end of the spectrum,” Mr Paterson told Ms Credlin. “We need the things put in place first before we get to that point because the discussion around Aboriginal kids on the street is, you can’t take them away because everyone gets so scared about the Stolen Generation. “These are still kids - they are little kids, they are little human beings.” But but but muh stolen generation. Maybe the new art gallery could be made a safe place for these vulnerable children. And increasing incarceration rates as domestic violence and sexual assaults offenders CANNOT go unpunished.
