Travellers under quarantine in hotels across Sydney say they are anxious about access to fresh air, laundry services and receiving fresh meals.

About 3000 international arrivals at Sydney Airport were greeted by police and defence force personnel at the terminal on Sunday, checked for fever, and bussed to hotels across the city where they will remain in isolation for 14 days, unable to step outside their rooms. In some instances, hotel keys have been confiscated.

While the $90 room service provision appears generous, the options are limited and expensive. Catherine's dinner on Sunday, the first thing she had eaten since the plane, was a steak and salad that cost $51. "It doesn't take long to spend that money," she said. To protect hotel staff, those quarantined will not have any physical contact with them, and meals and fresh linen are to be dropped outside their door.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said hotel staff "should be properly briefed and they should have the PPE [personal protection equipment] that they need," but that "the virus does not survive the most basic cleaning."He acknowledged "there will be people who are unhappy with the bed, the pillow, the heater, dinner and all those type of things".

Oh for heaven’s sake, get real! I get that they’re in a bubble but surely they have SOME idea of what’s going on

Maybe they should be given the bill instead of taxpayers paying for their ignorance & lack of Respect for the australian community auspol ABCNews wapol wanews lockdownaustralia coronavirusaus Coronaaustralia lockusdown publichealth Buzzfeed

Its 2 weeks, shutup and deal with it.

No one cares about you dumb people

Should have dumped them at the Italian border.

Being anxious wont hurt them, ChinaVırus will.

Use electronic shackles and send them home. If they go out, then put them into jail.

I guess everyone in Sydney right now , self isolating , is equally anxious about that problem 🤔.....

Thoughts & prayers are with the adulterers in those situations. Must be really hard to be trapped in room with your wife/husband. QuarantineCheats

You are home and get to stay FOR FREE for two weeks in hotels around Sydney. Other Aussies are scattered around the world with no way to get home and are forced to pay to get whatever accomodation is still free. Your food isn’t fresh enough. HOW AWFUL 🙄

I don’t think anyone who is not one of them cares, even for a second. We literally could not GAF about their whiny complaints.

Oh ffs.

Harden Up.

I'm sick of reading about how unhappy they are. Shouldn't they be a bit grateful they're back in Australia?

Just suck it up...

I can’t bring myself to feel remotely sorry for any of them.

Don’t let the truth ruin a good story - 101 journalism is cheap

Order in fresh food and pay the delivery boy to take your clothes to a laundry. Get a standard fan to simulate fresh air.

I always thought “travellers” were Romanies or Gypsies. So this new policy puzzled me.

Maybe they should have come home long ago then ! They get nice hotels and 3 meals a day all paid for by taxpayers. Shut up your cry babies.

I am sure everyone is feeling bad for them right now...

If true why is this not a big story?

Tough luck, your other options would be a jail cell or Christmas Island, take your pick.

If that’s all they have to complain about, then they are among the privileged. India is facing the reality of the impossibility of social distancing, isolation and people staying at home. For millions, these aren’t options. All we have to do is stay put, and be grateful.

Where were they earlier? How many times they've been asked to return asap, silly mentality, 'maybe nothing is gonna happen', huh? Most of ppl are in the same circumstances, can't move around much plus have bills and rent to pay and no income. Anything else to say?

Stop the fkn whinging

Christmas Island has fresher air, move them there!

They should be thankful for the safe support they are receiving.

U should have stayed where u were & road it out there u ungrateful ?!;:/

14 days in a hotel , not Christmas Island. You are saving life including your own and your loved one.

And I am anxious about the stupidity of human being 🤬

When i go on holidays I usually wash cloths in the bathroom basin and hang them up in the shower. Bet they did not have 'laundry services' while away. Also the hotels they are being put up in seem, to be good ones, I am sure the food will be good.

I am sure it isn’t much fun but would infecting your family with a virus 🦠 be a better option?

Just get over it & be happy to be back in Australia

Step 1 .Look at your window at the homeless man. Step 2 .Stop complaining. Your being asked to stay in a 4 star hotel, not to spend 6 months on a leaky boat to fight in a foreign country and watch your mates die. FFS the sense of entitlement .

Give masks to police otherwise all these have no meaning.

Sorry - no sympathy! Why didn't they come home earlier

Use your real name, don't complain behind anonymity. Officially a bunch of whingers.

You can always fill the “complaints form” next to the concierges desk next time you pass the lobby at your 5 star accommodation...

Gonna be used at guinea pigs feel for these people

Bad luck. Deal with it.

Poor didums, occupy yourselves by hand washing clothes in the bath= exercise. Stop whinging= personal growth. Be grateful you are not on the streets= humility Read a story about real hardship in concentration camps and harden up Life lessons for today!

Suck it up for the greater good. I write from experience having been quarantined in a Hong Kong hotel for the duration of our holiday a few years ago because my daughter had flu symptons.

Coronavirus People defying quarantine orders STOP /////// Around 1 year confinement with a ankle bracelet in their homes no ifs, or buts. What do U think?

How are those thrown on Christmas island

Their is an empty plane ✈️ sitting at the airport waiting to take you back

Buy access, wealthy usually do

You should have stayed where you were.

the army has no guns or taser or peppers

If only they were as anxious about readying the signs of what was happening in the world and travelling safe.

Alternatively they could have stayed wherever they were?

first world problems 🤦🏻‍♂️

Oh it's like a cruise ship

Australian Defence personnel just protected with rubber gloves. No face mask / eye protection. Scott Morrison and Brandon Murphy need to go.

How pathetic! Get over it and be grateful you’re back home.

the basics honey. you can survive.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind

Boohoo you're home and safe
