Nigel Farage has stood down more than 300 Brexit Party candidates in Conservative-held seats in what has been described as a major retreat. Mr Farage said his party made the decision based on polling which indicated standing in a number of those Conservative seats would split the vote of pro-Brexit candidates and allow pro-Remain candidates to win.

The decision was welcomed by the Conservatives, though Boris Johnson denied he had called Mr Farage to strike a deal. Labour's Jeremy Corbyn called it a "Trump alliance". Mr Farage initially vowed to run candidates in every Tory seat if British prime minister Boris Johnson refused to form an alliance with the Brexit Party to deliver a 'no deal' exit from the European Union.

brexitparty_uk No tactical strategy. Don’t fight your allies when there are plenty of foes to fight. Don’t split the votes in an electorate. Beat the opposition.

brexitparty_uk Try to please everyone you will please no one, half assed not really Brexit. You should have split the vote for the balance of power, negotiated a real Brexit and made up the Tory short fall, they would not dare refuse, they called your bluff Mr F and you blinked.

brexitparty_uk Or just another sham by the conservatives to fool the British people.

brexitparty_uk Tactical retreat.

brexitparty_uk Smooth move to beat Corbyn

brexitparty_uk Hardly a 'retreat' given Boris Johnson is pushing forward with Brexit. This is the right move if you actually want Brexit to happen. Only question is what deal will Boris accept.
