A new waste crime investigation squad will target cowboys who amass huge quantities of dangerous chemicals and toxic rubbish, in a $71 million push to tackle illegal stockpiles.

Environment Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said the government was giving the EPA the dedicated resources it needed to tackle waste crime and keep the community safe. The man allegedly responsible for that dump site near the town of Kaniva, Graham Leslie White, has beenOn Tuesday the government also announced $11.5 million to better treat and manage hazardous waste.

A recycling factory run by Bradbury Industrial Services was destroyed in a blaze caused by an industrial accident in April 2019.has previously reported taxpayers could be forced to spend more than $230 million to clean up all the waste stockpiles linked to that syndicate.

How about real laws with power. Turning our backs and leaving it up to private operators when we know that there are no safe means of disposing of many of these chemicals makes EVERYONE complicit. Manufacturers, councils, governments.
