Breaking: Prime Minister Scott Morrison has launched a plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, including $19 billion for low emissions technologies by 2030 | rachelclun

“Australia has already met and beaten our ... 2020 targets and indeed Australia will beat and meet our 2030 targets as well,” Mr Morrison said.Credit:The government’s plan to reduce emissions, released on Tuesday, stressed industries, regions and jobs would not be put at risk. The target of net zero by 2050 will not be legislated.

that cleared the way for Tuesday’s policy announcement, which includes $19 billion in investments for low emissions technologies including solar and clean hydrogen by 2030.“Australians want action on climate change. They’re taking action on climate change but they also want to protect their jobs and their livelihoods. They also want to keep the costs of living down,” he said. “And I also want to protect the Australian way of life, especially in rural and regional areas.

Mr Morrison promised the target would not be an end to coal or gas production or exports and would not increase energy bills.

rachelclun Well 19b by 2030? Isn't that outside the current budget cycle. They will not be around to implement even if LNP live down the shame and return to power, that is not a plan, it is smoke and mirrors, we used to call stuff vaporware - this is vapourpolicy

rachelclun Whose taxes not technology is the $19B?

rachelclun Better to say he has launched a play rather than a plan

rachelclun Another day another trip to Bunnings with ScottMorrisonMP

rachelclun Please bring on an election

rachelclun Nothing breaking about this disaster!

rachelclun His magnificent announcement rhetoric is matched by his underwhelming capacity to deliver

rachelclun He said 'Plan' an awful lot, but it will take a lot more than repetition and spin to save the planet.

rachelclun Haha that's not a plan.

rachelclun More bulldust propaganda...

rachelclun

rachelclun recycled bullshit

rachelclun No he hasn’t

rachelclun 2050 is too late

rachelclun Does 'uniquely Australian' mean this is just crocodile shit dressed up as a plan rather than traditional bullshit?

rachelclun Fossil fuel subsidies cost Australians a staggering $10.3 billion in FY 2020-21, so approximately $20 billion each two years......How on earth are Australians not proud enough of their Country to stop this incompetent, do nothing, coal industry junkie, in his tracks.

rachelclun The comments here make me feel so happy that everyone else can see right through the bull crap and the spin. What an indictment on our press that they keep putting forward lies and crap like this

rachelclun I hope it's a special 'climate action' account funded by all those ppl who Believe it's a problem and are willing personally to put their money where their mouth is including abandoning anything that is produced with or by fossil fuels..

rachelclun It looks like something put together in 3 days. Which it was

rachelclun And cash to Nats.

rachelclun Fake News !!!

rachelclun So despite his government only now accepting climate change is real Australia is already a success. It is because businesses, industries and state governments have been doing the job. This announcement has no details because Scott and his government are late to the issue again.

rachelclun 2050 🤦🏻‍♂️

rachelclun The Green new deal Paris climate accord is the Elites new way of money laundering for the future. War time economies are too scrutinised now after Assange exposed the truth about government corruption.

rachelclun ThisIsNotJournalism, it is stenography. Scott's slim pamphlet is not a plan. Have you read it? You can do so really fast because it boils down to 'subsidise fossil fuel industries'.

rachelclun I just wish a lot of LNP faithful voters see this current government for what it really is come election time. Whether you believe in climate change or not, the inner entrepreneur & economist should recognise the money to be made from these future industries & demand.

rachelclun Next, climate change lock downs. You wait.

rachelclun This is not a plan! It says we'll keep doing what we're doing but technology will save us. BTW we sacked 40,000 uni staff last year so overseas technology will save us. And no one overseas, where they're making new technology, thinks technology will save them: they have plans.

rachelclun But COP26Glasgow is about 2030, not 2050. COP26 is about the ParisAgreement, NotNetZero. This is a headline that is similar to 'delinquent next door commits to stop setting your house on fire by 2050'. EVERYONE ELSE has committed to NetZeroBy2050 ages ago.

rachelclun Blah blah blah

rachelclun Does anyone believe him? Another announcement that'll never happen. Like his $4B disaster fund that hasn't been touched. This LNP government won't follow through. Beetrooter won't let him.

rachelclun $19 bln to low emissions technology - I read subsidies to blue, brown and black hydrogen

rachelclun ScottMorrisonMP Gaslighting the public once again climate corruption auspol TheProjectTV

rachelclun Carbon capture and storage, hahaha, what a bloody joke. Zero faith in this goal being achieved.

rachelclun Net Zero emissions I am not sure this is even possible when all so-called Green Technologies rely on petrolchemicals in one way or others. It seems like the world is just kicking the can down the road...hoping something amazing comes up in the next 40 years.

rachelclun so who believes theliarfromtheshire this time round?

rachelclun He has used net zero by 2050 to throw another 19B at fossil fuel companies to sort it out using technology that doesn't work. That's a great plan 👌

rachelclun This 👇🏿is his plan.

rachelclun What did he give the Nationals then I wonder? ScottyFromGaslighting at it again no doubt. Announces everything, delivers nothing. AlboForPM

rachelclun He will take the stage at GOP26 as a charlatan and fool in the eyes of the rest of the world. Australia’s me solution when the world needs we.

rachelclun Is there any good reason that coverage like this should extensively use Morrison's talking points, almost verbatim? Tell us instead: What is the plan (does it even exist)? Is it enough to avoid catastrophic warming? If not, why not?

rachelclun As soon as he says uniquely Australian I shudder

rachelclun LOL 😆

rachelclun No hard facts, all Smoke & Mirrors, oh and the 'VIBE'
