Nationals Senator Perin Davey says the party has put the regions “front and centre” of the Coalition’s plan to reach net zero by 2050.

It comes after Prime Minister Scott Morrison officially committed Australia to a net zero emissions by 2050 target following approval from the Nationals.

“I’m actually very, very happy with what the Nationals have done; we’ve put the regions front and centre of this plan,” she told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “We’ve absolutely got a commitment from the government that we will not be shutting down our coal industry. “We’re protecting our coal industry while ever there’s market demand for coal; we’re protecting our other resources and heavy industries while ever there’s market demand.”

Net zero by 2050 is not acceptable without a serious concrete plan to halve emissions by 2030. Australia has no credible plan to reduce emissions quickly and at COP26 the world will point that out. auspol ClimateEmergency “Agreed to a process” not “agreed to support”. What is the government's plan to reach net zero? The government has committed to reaching net zero by 2050, and says it is on track to beat its 2030 emissions targets. But what will it take to turn Australia green? There is no plan. A plan? LOL 😁 The 'plan' is to make an announcement. That's the Morrison way. Scotty has a nice pamphlet, that is all we need to know.
