Prime Minister Scott Morrison will take a net zero by 2050 target to the Glasgow climate talks.
"The position regional people are in now is better than the terms and the process that was initially delivered to us," he said after a partyroom meeting in Canberra which lasted just over two hours."Obviously that depends upon what we see in the cabinet submission reflecting the conversations and agreements between myself and the prime minister."
"Heroics that have no outcome, heroics that leave nothing but a rhetorical flourish - but leave the person who is hurting in the same position as what they were - is not an outcome the Nationals party room supported." Mr Joyce acknowledged many Nationals supporters held a different position and continued to have concerns about the target.
"The technology roadmap that Angus Taylor has put together gives us comfort around where that can take us and particularly around protecting existing jobs and how that technology can grow regional jobs," he said.
Only an Idiot would report the story like this which is the outcome the Coalition wanted. 'Process' in no way signals the Govt has any legitimate means of obtaining nett zero by 2050. It pays to see the contents of any agreement before announcing one lest you're left in the shit
It would be infinitely preferable if the Morrison Government could come up with a planet friendly plan - not a pals friendly plan - a plan that pleased scientists and both sides of parliament. You know, something to restore Australias credibility and a future for those under 40.
Australians are very used to Scott Morrison announcements that lack any substance at all. But the world is not. The world is acutely aware Australia recently directly lied to & completely ripped off France. No one is going to believe them without detail, without evidence. No one.
Our kids will have been baked dry by then. Thanks for nothing, Nats.
Not good enough. 2030 should be the target to be inline with countries that clearly understand the Science behind Climate Change. CLEARLY AUSTRALIAN POLITICIANS DON'T BELIEVE NOR UNDERSTAND THE SCIENCE BEHIND CLIMATE CHANGE 🤨🧐🤔 Naive!!!!!
The way we’re trashing the planet, 20 years is a long time to wait for nothing to change, but the spin….will be 🤮…..🔥🔥🔥
Aust will need to safeguard existing native forests (both on land & sea grasses & kelp at sea) & expand such habitat areas further, to offset emissions. The_Nationals no to nuclear, it's a killer of fundamentals of life
I cannot beIieve I just read that 😳😳
So all we have is an announcement for 2050? Where are the details? What are the reduction steps/plans to 2030? What has it cost to get National support?
These NATIONALS are a BLIGHT on AUSTRALIA
There is more to a 'target' than a bulls eye..... Oh Oops missed...
Can't remember the last time I spent eight years waiting at an intersection for a green light to lead me to somewhere I did not know I was going.
Here goes ANOTHER PANTOMINE from ' Mr. ANNOUNCEMENT!!🤔🔥🌊🤔🎙️🪙
Way too late for human life on the planet. A third of National party politicians have resources shares.
What a load of utter crap!!! More like Playschool!
The dirty dozen, the magnificent 7, the hateful 8….. I am getting a distinct Tarantino vibe from this photo.
ALL behind CLOSED DOORS!! ANOTHER DODGY deal by this GOVT!! NATS *(SPORTS RORTS,Womanising DRUNK,1/2 D/SYN. etc. )!! NO transparency!! Where is McCORMACK CHRISTENSEN & KARNAVAN M./MAN!!👎🤔👎😵💫🤠💩👺👺👺
What’s in it for the nats? They don’t work for free & can only make a decision if it’s got $’s with their names on
They have agreed in-principle, to a plan that hasn’t been written for an undisclosed amount of money. Well done
I hear a lot of talk by a lot of twats who know this won't be their problem in 2050.
What's the big deal? ALP have committed to this w/o proffering policies to reach it. Don't worry about it.
What a disgrace
The Nationals run Australia...step aside Scomo and co..
