Nathan Cleary will be given until the end of the week by NSW coach Brad Fittler to prove his fitness for the Blues' blockbuster Origin decider as the star half looks to make a stunning recovery.
"He's a couple of days ahead of schedule, he'll put weight on it Sunday and then Monday. We should have a better idea of where he is at by Monday morning. "He'll [Cleary] have a week with the team. There's no set program for everyone. But he will want to be moving by the weekend."Mitchell Pearce has been floated as a halves candidate for Maloney, given the pair won a premiership together in 2013 at the Sydney Roosters. Damien Cook sent a scare through the Blues camp when he grabbed at his knee late in the game on Thursday night as Souths crashed to a fourth straight defeat. Cook toldhe had picked up a knock to the outside of his knee in Origin I and had carried it since, but there was no cause for concern and he had not missed any training.
