One Plus One host Jane Hutcheon on finding the spiritual heart of journalism.

To transmit our stories back to Australia via satellite in the mid nineties, it required battling Beijing's all-day rush hour to reach the feed point at Chinese Central Television in the west of the city.A satellite spot was 10 minutes, costing around USD$1200.

Sometimes while sending a controversial story, like protests, the Tiananmen anniversary, or something about Falun Gong, the satellite connection dropped out.

FatherBob Oh darn, i really like her

Thank you also for interviewing me over a four year period in order to write my life story. That has been the greatest honour that has ever happened to me. We did have fun in the process though :-) I am not easy to interview but you cleverly called me back to keep me on topic.

You have a few more books to write. I would like to read your blog but I can’t work out how to get into it. Can you indicate so I can get in :-)

Now you have a new piece of the jigsaw puzzle of The big picture of life. I am expecting even greater things than you have done in the past. I will always love you as a treasured friend and I honour you for your clever work and the way you have presented humanity to the world.

Labor journalists are biting the dust thick and fast. Anyway good luck........Murdoch may have something.

Really nice description of your craft and how it’s changed. You wouldn’t believe how we become accustomed to familiar and trusted voices like yours, remembering now the greats from ABC that have signed off over the years missthatvoice
