Prime Minister Scott Morrison says Australia will achieve net zero emissions by 2050 but won’t commit to making that an explicit target | katinacurtis

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says Australia will achieve net zero emissions by 2050 but won’t commit to making that an explicit target.

The government is expected to release its technology road map on how the country can reduce its emissions this week. “I think that [net zero] is very achievable, but it involves making the investments we have set out for ARENA and the CEFC this week.”

katinacurtis Junk science fraud.

katinacurtis Things are going to change naturally anyway. Obviously cheap free energy is better than expensive energy. market forces will make it happen. SCOMO is only interested in his $$$ short term.

katinacurtis More announcements, of no substance

katinacurtis Laying the groundwork to claim the credit if industry and consumers do the work on technology and uptake, while being ready to say I told you so if not. More marketing!

katinacurtis Not accountable to us for anything.

katinacurtis Not while scottyfrommarketing is in charge.

katinacurtis He's a compulsive liar. You can't trust a word he says because he's not accountable for his promises. auspol

katinacurtis 'By 1990 there will be no child living in poverty'

katinacurtis A politician's statement...

katinacurtis Translation: We want you to think we are doing good things but won’t commit so that you can’t hold us accountable when we don’t

katinacurtis Is there a plausible reason why we can’t do this sooner?

katinacurtis This feels misleading. The Government's policy is still net zero emissions sometime in the second half of this century, Scott Morrison said as much in the Insiders interview.

katinacurtis By which point he'll be long dead and won't have to answer for a thing. The perfect political promise.

katinacurtis He actually said 'in the second half of this century', that doesn't equate to by 2050. There was no commitment to any target or any date this century. Actually he probably won't live to see Australia meet its commitments.

katinacurtis No. Try again. Scott Morrison says Australia won’t commit to achieving net zero emissions by 2050

katinacurtis 2050 is 30 years away. 30 years is a long time in this rapidly evolving world for one to commit to anything. Who in 1990 would have thought that 25% of Australian homes in 2020 would have rooftop solar? Policies that enable Direct action are the best way forward

katinacurtis Good. Common sense.

katinacurtis Can't help stupid, it is leading the country

katinacurtis That's too little too late

‘I’m trying to answer’: PM quizzed on unemployment rate ‘peak’Prime Minister Scott Morrison says it’s “hard to say” whether unemployment will keep rising in Australia as coronavirus restrictions continue to ease and jobs return. Tell the truth. It was actually a stage managed recording from Friday. 1. It wasn't a grilling. 2 It wasn't this morning, it was pre-recorded. 3 He wasn't 'oressed' on the unemployment rate. Apart from getting all the facts wrong, good tweet. It was recorded on Friday. Wet lettuce treatment also. So that's two strikes with your story and I've not even opened it yet.

‘Hundreds of thousands of jobs to return by Christmas’: PMPrime Minister Scott Morrison has backed the controversial decision to cut its coronavirus welfare payments next week, saying he expects “hundreds of thousands” of jobs to return before Christmas. Good now, bludgers get back to your jobs and the dole budges get a job. And he’s also going to reduce taxes for the wealthy. Where is the expectation that they are going to share the spoils when trickle-down economics don’t work? Another “announcement”. This man is not a prophet. I am working on a Jeremiad.
