More than 260 Victorians fined for breaching COVID-19 restrictions

The number of Victorians fined for breaching coronavirus restrictions has risen to its highest level in more than a fortnight, with those nabbed including a man from Melbourne's west who was caught in the CBD at 2am.

Those fined include a man from St Albans who had travelled more than five kilometres from his home to the CBD and was caught breaching curfew while walking along William Street at 2am on Sunday. Thirty-eight people were fined for failing to wear a face mask in public and 13 fines were issued to people at police checkpoints.A man helping a friend move a television about 25 kilometres from Doncaster East to Dandenong who had stopped on the way to grab a burger from a fast food restaurant.A man who travelled 50 kilometres – 10 times the permitted five-kilometre radius – from Garfield, east of Melbourne, to go exercising and shopping in Frankston.
